And so it begins....I took the long 10 hour bus ride from Ft. Worth to Springfield Monday. When I arrived, it was exactly as I expected from reading others posts. I checked into the motel, the staff here are super cool. Was sent to get my paperwork and completed a more in depth application. Excited to get things rolling today and see what happens....

Well so far there have been no surprises for me. Everything I have read on these posts have held true. I showed up for orientation, went thru the day long physical, drug screen, interview and so on....On day one we lost two because their BMI was over regulation.....I had read somewhere on these threads not to worry about BMI because if you were overweight they would just give you a one yr. med card instead of two, NOT TRUE...Prime WILL NOT hire you, they sent those two home!!

Day two held no surpises either really. When I moved to Texas a week before coming here, the Texas DMV made me surrender my NM drivers license which created some issues but was able to resolve them by paying MO for a new license. Try to have a hard copy license when you get here, not paper, they don't like those here...On this day we lost a few more, one had home issues and withrew, the other two had background issues. One had a suspened licesne in another state, and the second had an arrest that he didn't report. So, our class is down to 15 now...We all got our permits and eventually got to drive on simulators. My suggestion is to get your permit before you get here, class "A" with general knowlege, air brakes and combination. Will make your first couple days a little more laid back.

Today shouldn't be no surpises either, we are suppose to have a couple of classes, driving simulator, company badges and so on...I will say that the staff here is very friendly and professional. I have been really impressed with this company and am glad I made this choice. I have talked to several drivers who have been here for years and have had nothing but good things to say about PRIME, and all of them had come here from other companies.....I didn't ask them who, not my business.....Anyway, looking forward to the end of the week so I can hit the road!!

Thanks for giving us the updates. I will be taking my written test tomorrow.
I am waiting until the first of the year, that way I will have had, Thanksgiving, Christmas, My Anniversary, and my Birthday before my extended time away from home during training.
This site has been excellent and I appreciate the time everyone has put into it to inform.
I also have appreciated the not so positive info, as long as there was not a hidden agenda behind them.

First, thanks for following through on keeping us up to date. Telling wannabes, like myself, about your experiences is invaluable. You can help us make good decisions when the time comes.

Now, about BMI, what is the acceptable BMI score at Prime? Mine is 25 but I could get it lower before I go into a training program next summer.

    Continued success,

    Oldnewbiegonnabe:
The BMI requirement as stated on the Prime website is "Must be less than 39" and there is a link on the medical qualifications tab to a BMI calculator and/or Index Table.
