Honda they get you in when you request. They prefer that you stay out a min. Of 10 days with 2-3 in.. I have found that if you stay out 3 weeks you get good loads and runs. As far as orientation goes, pretty cut and dry.. bring your long form and med card, it will keep you from having to do a complete physical. UDS is standard. A lot of paper work the first day, Policy and procedures there after. Most company trucks are 2010 and newer, mainly prostars. They do have some 2012 Cascadias. Company rigs all manual 10 speeds with apu's. They have been pretty decent about everything. Maintenence has been awesome. Any problems with truck or trailer, let them know. They will get you to a shop. I first go out I average 2000 ml. Then my second and third wks are around 3000 each. Do good pretrips, and check any trailer thouroghly when you pick them up. It will take you about 1-2 wks to get the kinks out of a truck. Then your good. I have had several inspections since I started and have been good. Like I said, if you have problem let maintenance know. They will route you to a TA or shop to fix it. All the horor storiesbi read on here about PTL have not been true in my case. I will say every trailer I have hooked to has had issues. So just check them thoroughly. but I report it and it gets fixed. What is sad is that if the previous driver had reported the isue when they dropped the trailer, PTL would have gotten it fixed before reassigning it. I hope this helps, anything els just ask.

Well my time w/ PTL is done. I turned my truck in and was given all my releases.. I left for One main reason, I miss flatbedding.. Their was a few issues w/ FM and company, but over all can't complain.. Like most thing s in this world, It is what you make of it.. Enjoyed driving and the miles were ok.. But for same amount of miles, I can get home every wkend w/ Maverick.. That is who I am looking to go back to.. Though Boyd as been very active in getting me to come to them. I met a Boyd driver where I park my truck when home and we talked.. He asked me for my info and 2 days later had a call from recruiter.. I literally have talked to Maverick this Am about getting all my reports back.. They are still waiting on PTL to respond.. Boyd took my info over the phone, sent me an email, and called this AM to say I could come to oreintation Monday.. Asked about PTL info, Boyd recruiter stated "we aren't concerned w/ PTL, they never respond to request and the DAC can take 30 days".. So now to make a decision.. Maverick won't let me back until they get PTL report, Boyd is .41cpm, Maverick .43cpm.. insurance is the same.. tarp pay is B=$20 M=$25.. Both get you home most wkends.. typical 2500-2800 mpw for either company.. I know what I had w/ Maverick in the past and miss my Maverick comrades.. But Boyd seems to be just as good and they want me now... so I guess I will call maverick tom. and find out about reports..

Well mad a decision to go to Boyd.. Maverick still waiting on my PTL report and won't let me in until its back. can't hold out another wk.. So Boyd here I come.. Told Boyd recruiter my decion and had a bus ticket confirmation in my email 10min later.. Then the director of recruiting called me to welcome me abourd and asked if I had any questions that my recruiter didn't answer.. Quite impressed so far with their swiftness and communications.. So here I go. PTL did call this morning for my exit interview, informed theem of my issues and concerns plus reason for leaving.. They then offered a .08cpm raise and offered to give the sign on bonus out earlier then policy. They also offered a new FM as well.. Very tempting, but I have already decided to go w/ Boyd.. The interviewer then informed me that I could come back anytime and if It was before 6 months to call him personaly and he would still have the offer. So can't say a whole lot bad about PTL.. Pretty fair on exit, and the door is still open.. I hope those of you following this thread found it helpful.. I will now start one on my Boyd experience.

Until later, drive safe and treat every load like your family is driving beside you.

I appreciate all of the effort you make on these posts about PTL. I am a driving school graduate, having been graduated in May of these year. I recently applied at PTL for a Refresher Course. One of the recruiters called and now I have the application process going. Outside of the trucking industry, I have a poor work history within the past 3 years, with most jobs I've held only being short-term due to lack of transportation. I hope the hiring committee will understand my situation with that and approve of my application. My question to you is, does PTL keep their drivers busy? I am hoping that they will keep me rolling with around 2000-3000 miles per week on average. Hometime is not an issue for me, as I am single with no kids.

Yes they will keep you going w/ 2-3k easy if your willing to stay out 3 wks at a time.. If you stay out 2 wks at at a time expect 1800-2200.. the longer you stay out the more miles and longer runs they will give you. Good luck to ya'..

That helps a lot, thanks brother. Seems like they're the only company who will potentially give me a chance with such a bad luck with my past work history. It'll all be up to hiring committee for the final say-so according to my recruiter. Also, do they allow you to choose which truck you'd like between their Internationals and Freightliners?

At the end of oreintation the ops manager, Kevin Fox, will come in and inform class what trucks are available. Mostly Prostars, a few Cascadias and ask each driver what they want. He will also ask for voluteers to go recover abanded trucks.. Do that if a option.. They will pay great and no bus ride to recover. They have a van that will drive you to the truck.. You will have to then return it to a terminal and clean it.. But after servicing, it will usually be assigned to you... and the pay to recover is about 350-500 plus cleaning fees of 150.. all in your pocket... So just keep that in mind. most trucks are single bunks, the double bunks are mainly for training and teams. But they do have a few.. Hope this helps.. PTL isn't a bad company, just not what I wanted or liked.

Awesome! Those new ProStars and Cascadias are beautiful! I'll be doing a Refresher Course as far as I know. Do you know if you'll be doing the Refresher Course before heading out with a Trainer? Also, if so, will we be paid while doing the Refresher Course?
