Hey any of you guy's still there how's it going so far what's there starting team pay for rookies how's the physical.
-
Going to Trucking school @ roadmaster in columbus ohio, I live in Portsmouth, and PTL is one of the closest carriers, I was wondering... if you look on youtube there are videos and Vlogs about almost every company EXEPT for PTL, out of Murry KY, wonder why, and if there are any PTL drivers with a camera... make some videos and post em for those who are going to be driving for them, I hear alot of bad things but i just want to get some experience and I have an old Felony and thats about the only company that will take me.... But someone who acually drives for PTL, get with me and give me the scoop.... Thanks

Their Phase 2 training (team driving) is about to drop from a required 40K miles to just 30K miles, and the pay fro that will go from 15cpm to 17cpm - again, that's all truck miles, not just the ones you personally drive. This is said to take effect January 1st.
Don't know why no one at PTL makes YouTube videos. I don't make them because, to be honest, I just don't care to. I used to watch several truckers who make YT videos, but it seems to me that most of them just can't seem to create enough content to feed their inflated egos, so I'm just not interested in going there.
Here's the short of it, though: Like any other company, PTL is not perfect. There will be things you won't like (for instance, you'll almost never get detention pay no matter how long you sit at a shipper/receiver. That's just how it is.) And, if you're like me (i.e., a smart ###) you'll probably have words with some of the weekend dispatchers from time to time. But if that's the worst to expect, then I personally don't complain much about it. Overall, PTL is a good company to be with - certainly better than a lot of others. But if you're looking for the perfect company to work for then you're not gonna have much luck in finding that anywhere.
The way I choose to view it is like this: PTL is a good company, but they aren't perfect. Which is really convenient because I'm a good driver, but I'm not perfect. So it's a match until I reach SuperTrucker status - which I hope never happens.Leftnut, jparm and TwoThirdsNelson Thank this. -
Thanks man, uhh.. whats phase 1 consist of, and another question, what kinda trucks do they run? whats things like pay wise durring these 2 phases?
-
I'm a recent student I recently applied at PTL and I was wandering if you receive any pay while in orientation or training?
-
Orientation does pay. I think it was something like $350 but I really don't remember. It should say on their website but if not the recruiter will tell you. Phase one is 6K miles with a trainer, you do all the driving and get 15cpm. Takes about 14 days to complete. Phase two is currently 40K with another refresher/student, team driving. Each gets 15 cents per truck mile and the 40K miles is based on total truck miles. Takes about 6 to 10 weeks, depending mostly on you and your co-drivers performance. PTL runs Internationals and Freightliners.
TwoThirdsNelson Thanks this. -
Hey I am heading to ptl with a friend to team we both just graduated yesterday wanted to know how's the miles and how's the physical is there strength test involved any info greatly appreciated.
-
I already had my med card when I came to PTL so I didn't take their physical. As I understand it, the physical is just a typical medical exam done by a third party.
Miles are about as good as you want them to be. If you want to run, PTL will run you. Certainly no complaints here.TwoThirdsNelson Thanks this. -
Thank you I will be teaming so was hoping we will be getting miles.
