All of those are probably true. I just know I haven't been targeted. But if you think about it 9 trucks out of over 1500 is pretty good. Plus if those drivers would have done a proper PTI they would have seen these problems themselves. PTL would have repaired the problems. They always repair any thing I find on my truck or trailer. No questions. These are just lazy drivers. Also if this gives them a CSA of over 50 PTL gets rid of them. You "the driver" are ultimately responsible for making sure you are safe to run. Don't blame the companies if you are too lazy to check out your truck.

If you look at the CSA history here you will notice that in May the score was 98%. Now it is I think 84%. It is coming down fairly fast. This alone shows that PTL is on the way to having corrected the problem. Which by the way was due to having drivers who didn't check their equipment.

PTL's unsafe driving score concerns me even more than maintenance.
HOS looks high, but reasonable.
So, what does an 84% Unsafe Driver tied with a 41.4% HOS mean? To me, it means the drivers are late before they even get their next dispatch based on the time it takes to get to that next stop. So the drivers bust butt to get there on time. The result:
32 (no brains) tickets for no seat belts
76 failure to obey control device
20 failure to use hazard warnings
19 following too close
19 improper lane change
53 lane restriction violation
20 improper parking/leaving vehicle in roadway
117 speeding 6-10 over
39 speeding 11-14 over
15 speeding 15 or more over
15 speeding construction zone
Yeah, these bother me.
Check with ChinaTown, though. It's only your CDL on the line, not his...
No big deal, right?Last edited: Nov 3, 2013

We go to the ta, petro or dealership when we aren't near a terminal.

Some companies won't care. When they need drivers, they need drivers. You don't want a company that's 'just bad enough' to hire you. Smaller companies typically give much less weight to DAC/HireRight. Even city bus gives you large profile vehicle experience. I'd prefer you widen your search to include straight trucks and other truck-related work, like repair shops, yard hostling, shipping and receiving, distribution centers.Hard Worker Thanks this. -
Big M has a very interesting CSA. 87% on Driver Safety. Yet 27% on HOS and 13.4% Vehicle Maintenance. Have you made a personal visit to talk to them? 240 trucks.
You are in control of your driving. I'd like to know what's behind this high Driver Safety score with good scores on Vehicle Maintenance and HOS. Is safe driving acceptable to Big M?? It should be. But apparently hasn't been. What's their turnover rate like? Do they have a bunch of old timers that run hot all the time that they don't want to cut loose? Or is running hard part of the ticket?
I'd go visit. Face-to-face. Wouldn't settle for a phone call. I'd want to kick the tires, maybe even be a little confrontational. I'd make it very clear I don't want my CDL compromised.
You might be the conscientious driver they need here on out. See what they say about that. I'd want to meet and listen to dispatch. And I'd be blunt. I'd want them on a meet-and-greet. The 25 cent tour. -
I've never once been pulled over or singled out for inspection in the time I've been with PTL. Granted, that time is rather short (only a few months) but considering I pass through weigh stations daily, you'd think I would have been pulled in for an inspection by now if current assumptions were true.
