Most truck stops have repair services and PTL always uses them.

I looked locally but mainly used www.indeed.com out of the 3 others I was using for local jobs in Columbus, GA. Not many options and the work & pay didn't really compare to OTR dry van hauls. My DAC shows me as 'Review Required Before Rehire' I contacted them and asked if I could, they said 'Once you get 6 months with another company we can hire you back' It shows accidents instead of incidents, but like you said, it's pretty much the same thing to these recruiters, unless they're desperate to hire.

Basically that's what I'm currently doing, looking into companies that are 'just bad enough' to hire me. Gotta do my 6 months to get back in with a good company though, has been my attitude. Still want the best possible situation I can find. I don't know much about straight trucks, and I like driving long distances, so I might not enjoy the local thing. I used to deliver flowers locally for years before upgrading to big trucks. I love the long open road.

If you google 'trucking companies' you'll find a couple sites that list virtually every company in your state. You could cold call them, make some contacts. Does Schneider want OTR? Would they accept you back with a local gig? A non-OTR gig? Six months is not that long. And the damage you could put on your CDL with a bottom feeder would last a long, long time.

I'm confident you'll find something. You have a base to build from. That you've been accepted by multiple companies shows that carriers recognize that, too.

If your 'minor incidents' did not involve other vehicles, I'd contact HireRight and see if I could get that changed. Probably try anyway. Getting some acceptable-to-Schneider and going back to Schneider would be a plum. (IMO)

Yeah I would like to make a personal visit with Big M 1st, but I'm in Columbus, GA and they are in Blue Mountain, MS (500+ miles away). You say they have 240 trucks, or is it drivers? I could've sworn the recruiter Jacob, told me they had 1,080 trucks. Later someone else told me that small companies are defined by 1,500 or less trucks, so Big M is small. They show pic of their staff in the "Meet The Big M Crew" tab on their website here http://dieselexpress.net/health.html. I haven't asked them about turnover rates, and don't know any drivers or their ages, or about how hard they're being run. I plan on talking to Jacob tomorrow again, and I'll ask him some of those questions you mentioned. Thanks for the info and your suggestions.

Here's the link to Big M rather unusual CSA: http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/carrier.aspx?enc=/6dnF5bIVVcxKz5/vB4KFw==

Is that the right Big M? Their training webinars look great! Wonder if they'd open that up to you as a possible hire? Of course, CRE has a great looking web site, too. Big M shows 240 trucks, 288 drivers.

That Driver Safety score, though. Without that, company looks great. 13% Vehicle Maintenance. Better than Gordon!

/A real plus that Schneider would hire you 'subject to review'. Outfits do that for drivers that quit, for Pete's sake. I'm thinking you're gonna be fine. And small, safe companies are good. I don't consider 240 trucks small. I'm thinking under 100.

Yeah that's gotta be it. It's in Blue Mountain, MS. I'll have to ask Jacob about how many trucks & drivers they have again. But I took your advice on that Google search, and right now I'm in the middle of looking up a butt load of local companies I had no idea even existed in Columbus lol. A lot of 'em are tiny, many only have 1 truck. But I plan to have a huge list from these for tomorrow to make calls on, and see if I might find something better than PTL, Big M, or Swift. Thanks again for the tips, Vic

I dunno. I'm clean except for a recent preventable accident as a newbie and they didn't take me. Recruiter was very nice and helpful though
