The only negatives I have for working with PTL is their fuel ratio percentile...i worked there for 6 weeks and the last week i had a 33% ratio...i was not fully aware how serious this was as they did tell me where to fuel but my reasoning was this....If i am full and they ask me to stop 100 miles in and put in 100 gallons--and then go 300 more miles and fill up---makes no sense...at 100 miles I am barely off the full line (maybe between 3/4 and full) and no way is 100 gallons going in...but if i get to the 300 mile stop it is at about 1/2 gallon...fill up---the price is going to generally be the same...no matter how i cut it the fuel is going to be at or around the 1/2 mark, so why not just save time and fill up then...simple math and common sense.
Only other negatives..terminals are shabby...
Other than that, they're not bad for a small company ...i actually made better money there than i did at the previous BIG company i worked for...and i put 3 years in with them....I did enjoy working with PTL but they were firmly against the 33% fuel thing and would not reasonably understand my logic...or work with me...no warning or notification...just an abrupt clean out the truck..
