Good advice although they might have to go out and get some miles under their belts to qualify for Con-way. I have seen some husband and wife teams doing the grocery store delivery gig. One told me the idea of working out while getting paid was saving her a membership to a gym.

But, one year of OTR with no tickets or accidents looks huge today. I don't understand it but I am an old fart after all.

Thank You for the tip Hubcap. 10 years ago the list of female instructor was short, but I needed more than fingers to count them all. Nice Ladies of the road who could Mother you in and out of a New York delivery with no grief. :)biggrin_2553:Thank You Instructor "Stormy" where ever you are!:biggrin_2553:) Sorry to hear my wife will not be so lucky. Thinking about U.S.Express to start out. I Will Keep Looking.

Hey all, I'm new obviously, and didn't want to make a new thread about that. I figure if I'm going to hijack a thread for introductions, it may as well be my husband's. I do have to admit, I am a bit nervous about the idea of taking up truck driving, since I know computers and not vehicles, but something around here has to change - since going to college for graphic art was a big fat waste of time, money and energy.

I'd just like to say I appreciate the advice given by you knowledgeable folks and I will be lurking around trying to absorb what I can and may even chime in with a question from time to time.

Hi, I just signed up yesterday! Some of the comments scare me. My husband and his brother are in school now, they were electricians but business is so slow and we have a family to feed. They want to be team drivers (they get along great). Of course the school recruiter made it sound like gold!! HAHA. Plenty of work out there for teams. But It sounds like things are really hard out on the road these days for team drivers. He has always wanted to drive so I don't want to discurage him in any way, but I do hope we can pay the bills!! I didn't think about forums before he signed up for school, thats hinesight for ya. Can any one give me any positive reinforcement? Thanks!

We had a good one named Faye at Cowtown and later Longhorn driving school. Patient and kind and I have no idea where she went but I thing she just got tired of the training job. Sometime the love of training folks just can't out run the stupidity of these misguided school owners and administrators. Sometimes they just need to get out of the way and let us train.

I got in trouble once for going over two hours because a student of mine needed some extra training turning corners. Heaven forbid I care about my students!

Don't sweat it! Soon you will have little kids looking up at you like you're some kind of American Hero! Just remember the most important feature on your CB radio is the off switch.

Since I don't have any 'thank you' buttons showing for me to click, I'll just make a post to thank you both for your warm welcomes. :)

Edit: Okay I've decided that it must have been due to this forum's odd privilege-by-post-count rules, because this being my second post, the thanks buttons are showing up.
