If you are going to work with a friend hauling cattle, then why do you need to get a year OTR?
Only the larger company's do not accept intra state. A small cattle hauling company (and there insurance company) should take any experience as experience. The large company's just put the OTR rule in effect so that they could pay experienced drivers less money. Since if the experience is local or intra state they could.
I only get paid for 3 years exp, and I have been driving on and off since 1991.
I was 21 when I got my CDL, now I am 40 lol.
I could not find anything OTR accept with my cousins company at that age though, due to insurance. So after trying my cousins company and not liking it, I went local.
I am telling you this so that you know, it is not a new thing. The rule for under 21 being intra state has been on the books for a long long time as well.
I think in mostly has to do with maturity. Espically with males, since science says males are not mature physically till 21, and mentally can take years more lol.
Anyway, deal with it. It is not a reg that will change.

Wow, Crome Dome, you are exactly right. The hoodsie we are conversing with really sounds like he has alot of common sense. I myself screwed up big time, when I was younger. I mean this kid, hauling livestock, which has got to be the hardest thing to haul, has heart. I screwed up big time when I was young, before digital! So anyway I had a friend,at the registry, who let me play house. So my 8 yrs goes to the truth of 30 yrs . Oh well, That's when the NAZI'S didn't have everything covered. The toughest thing I hauled was Bunker Oil,Oh #####, didn't an endorsment then,You got used to the slosh real quick or you were on your side.(No Baffles). So with the Lords of Insurance delegating the Law these days I think as long as he keeps his nose clean and can suffer through that long year, He will do fine. Good Luck Kid, Watch Out You Might Get What You Want!
