How long will a truck driving company disqualify you from being hired if the accident was a major preventable accident and if it was my fault and the other party got injured but the accident got settled between both insurance companies! I experienced this about a year and a half ago.It looks like the only company said will hire me with it is swift but im still wondering.Id appreciate any help with this concern of mine. Thanks :biggrin_25514:

You'll have to be more detailed, for a complete picture.

Too many times, I've seen the words played with within this forum and during interviews.

Major could mean the total loss of 2 vehicles, loss of 1, or the loss of 7 vehicles and 5 lives.

THAT definition will determine what chances a company is willing to take with you.

2 totaled vehicles.I guess the company will have to take a look at the police report(accident report)

Landstar2206, I see that you have posted these same questions already on the board.
The specifics that Danc is referring to, are for instance:

    How Old Are You?
What Does Your MVR Say The Actual Charges Were?
Did The Accident Occur In A Commercial Vehicle?
Any Other Violations Listed On Your 10 Year MVR?
How Much Experience Do You Have?

I saw that you had previously stated that Swift refuses to take you until the tickets are at least 3 years old and you turn 23 years old.

    Baack Thanks this.

im 22 going on 23 next month,
accident was settled with no charges,no other moving violations and no court,no fine etc...
accident was in my own personal pick-up
I have one moving violation that happened over a year before the accident and thats for speeding 15mph+.That ticket is going to be three years old next month....
Both the accident and speeding ticket occured when I had a Class A CDL.
Driving School Experience only.Drove trucks for friends and family but only for cash

That pretty much is everything. The reason why ive posted this again is because the last one had to do with swift and not other or all trucking companies. So this message makes it alot easier to look at.My main question is but I dont know if any of you can answer, My question is what is the most amount of time you can be disqualified for any truck driving company with class 8 trucks....cmv's,tractor trailers etc..

Thank you! Have a nice day

If the accident does not appear on your MVR, then it does not pose a noticeable problem. You seem to think that it will cause a problem with your ability to get hired, but, it all depends on what your MVR says about your driving history.

The speeding, in excess of 15/mi over the posted speed limit, does carry the charge of Careless Reckless Endangerment, this is a major violation. Any additional speeding violations will just accentuate that you have a need for speed.

Most companies want a 10 year MVR for experienced driver. You may find some companies that will utilize a 5 year MVR.

Give Coastal Transportation in N. Ga a call, they used to accept the careless reckless charge, as long as it was not in a commercial vehicle.

    Best of Luck!!!!

The speeding ticket is not a careless reckless driving charge. It was just a speeding ticket and came with a fine...thats it A FINE.......no court,no license suspension,etc...I talked to CRST Van Expedited and Swift and they said that the speeding ticket has to be 3 years old since the conviction date.....The speeding ticket will be 3 years old next month....95% of transportation companies wanna know about your last 3 year mvr since some of violations could cause an insuranse increase for them.If they check your mvr any longer than 3 or 5 years then its because they are curious to see if you didnt have a dwi or dui 10 years ago.It wouldnt matter anyways because companies want it to be 5 years after the conviction date just like any other auto insurance.Thats very serious moving violations.Good Luck :biggrin_25514:
