As the title states, how many companies have cruise control in their rigs?

I'd say that 99.99999% of all tractors have cruise control.

That seems to be basic equipment right along with the steering wheel.:biggrin_2559:

even the old trucks had cruise control---sometimes you had to pull out throttle---some trucks you had to wedge a stick against the throttle:biggrin_25522:

may be "standard equipment", but i HAVE worked for companies that disconnect the cruise control...........reason being..........?? if a driver falls asleep while driving, the truck just keeps on going........!!

and it was one LTL company as well as one OTR company that those cruise controls were disconnected..........

I remember driving a truck about twenty years ago, that if you put the headlights on the cruse would not work. The way around that was to bend an arm on the relay that controlled the cruse.

    That seems kind of odd...:biggrin_2556:

Most companies want drivers to use the cruise control as the truck gets
better fuel economy when using it.

And it seems the chances of a driver falling asleep either using it or not
will still cause major damage. It happens but not that often so it seems
it would be better for them to not override it.

Driving for Swift about a dozen years ago the first truck I had with them would kill the cruise when you kicked on the headlights. Used to piss me off something fierce lol.

Glad my truck has cruise control. When you are driving for a long distance, and your foot on the gas pedal for a while trust me you'll get tire. I always use it on set my on 55-60 MPH unless something in the trailer is fragile than I go at least 50-55 MPH or lower but I should probably at 45-50 MPH. Even when my headlights are on it doesn't stop unless I press on the brake.
