Question for all of you out there. I currently live in IL, but when I lived in WI, over the course of about 6 years, I received 3 DUI convictions. It has been 7 years since the last one, and I have been clean and sober for the last 5 1/2 years. Seeing as how WI is not a compact state, and for the most part, unless it is a felony conviction, they do not report anything to other states. My current MVR in IL is spotless. My question is, do I say anything about my troubles in WI? Or just let it go?

there are at least 2 ways to handle this. Look at what the company's qualifications are as to when or if they state if they will hire with a conviction and if so , how long past must it be and be honest. Or tho it will cost you some money I beleive Wis. charges 100 to 150 to run a thorough and complete background with criminal and convistions, you may ask them to run if you can pay and get the results SINCE YOU ARE THE ONE PAYING. If employer runs you don't get results. However I will warn , YES THIS REALLY HAPPENED!! AND MORE THAN ONCE MIND YOU!! :biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:I have seen several go and pay to see if they pass, before going for a job, with outstanding warrants. WELL THESE CAME UP IN THE BACKGROUND CHECK, AND THEY WERE IMMEDIATELY TAKEN INTO CUSTODY!! All the Cops could say was, Thanks for stopping in!! As they shook there head, like geez, not too smart!

Well I received a careless driving citations last october. Does this seriously affect my chances of getting job with a truckin company. If it does cause some companies to run which one's will take me on still. I talked to Steven Transport today and they are running that through there review board.

I know there are no outstanding warrants for me in WI, so that isn't a problem. Everything there has been done on the up and up, and I am free and clear there (considering I live just across the border from them and go there on a regular basis). Would I be lying if when they asked if I have any DUI convictions to say that I don't have any on my current MVR?

Regardless of whether a state is a "compact" state or not, all states report DUI's ( And certain other serious violations along with suspensions and revocations) to the NDR (National Driver Registry).

    Best regards

Here is an example of 2 companies and what their requirements are Celdon states no dwi or dui or drug or allcohol convictions for 10 years. USA states no dwi or dui or alcohol or drug convictions for past 5 years and no more then i moving violation for past 3 years. and so on. These 2 companies hire out of wisconsin. Go to sites that take apps and list companies by states they hire out of and check the company by going to their website and seeing what each has to say for qualifications. This will answer alot of your questions. Some will not hire with any felony convictions in past AT ALL> I know you all have access to computoras because you are on this site Use the computor , which most all companies have a website and CHECK THEM OUT> DO NOT LIE , A LIE AND GETTING CAUGHT IN THE LIE IS GROUNDS TO FIRE YOU. TRY TO BE AS HONEST AS POSSIBLE!!IF YOU ARE CAUGHT IN LIE WHILE IN ORIENTATION THEY WILL PUT YOU OUT OF IT AND YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN TO GET YOURSELF BACK HOME!! I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE PUT OUT AND FORCED OFF PROPERTY FOR LYING FROM FIRST DAY OF CLASS UP TO 10 MINUTES OF GETTING AN ASSIGNED TRUCK OR TRAINER. AND THEN THEY SCREW YOU OVER ON THE DAC. DO NOT DO THIS, PROTECT YOUR PROFESSIONALISM FROM THE START!!

As for what will show on your DMV record: Go down to the DMV and and get a 10 year history PRINTOUT and see what is listed on your record The last time I did this it cost me $10. I may be a little more depending on what state you live in, but you can see what is posted against your license. If you see something on it you dont understand ask them and they will tell you what it means, especially when it is listed by violation with numbers instead of out right stating reckless driving or whatever. It will also tell you how many points are currently againstt your license, if any. SO YOU KNOW, As Professional drivers, we are SUPPOSE TO BE MORE AWARE OF THE LAWS, and most states allow us fewer points before they pull our license.LOG BOOK TICKETS IN CALIFORNIA ARE REPORTED AGAINST YOUR LICENSE, Depending on your STATE where you are licensed , your state will determine if they will issue points against the license. Wisconsin does not last time I checked, my license is out of Wisconsin. Sadly is due to expire and I may wind up getting it renewed in California. I recently lost my Mom , and does not look like I will return in time to renew in Wisconsin.
