As I'm new and expect low pay, i thought i would just hit free wifi locations when i could, to pay bills on line and watch videos and such. Then when may pay is more stable, go with an air card. i know McD's and Starbucks have free wifi. Are there any other store chains or locations that have or will be offering this?

Rest areas in Iowa have 30 minutes free and pay after that, Sapp Brothers truckstops have free wifi but I haven't tried it, there are others, and sometimes you get lucky and find something in some small ,out of the way, place.

You may have to take it inside at some of these places to use the free wifi.

    walstib Thanks this.

Most charge $2-$5 per hr or day i think. With no garentee of a good connection. Or a monthly charge only good for the specific truck stop/stops.

Most charge a sliding scale, the more time you buy, the less per hour it costs. it's usually 1.99 for the first hour in the places I have checked. It might run 5 to 8 for 24 hours.

I'd rather sleep than being angry about being ripped off again, so I haven't done much for pay while in the truck. Spending 2 bucks or 10 bucks for something unusable leaves a bad taste for me.

Also remember...some FREE WI-FI is filtered......and painfully slow......
Consider it to be a free bonus...but it would be tough to count on it...other things will drive your descesion on where you can park...like where the company's tell you to get fuel, or where you run out of time, or where you are even allowed to park....or for that matter walk to!!
Some phones can be tethered (sometimes legally, sometimes with a hack) to get some pretty cheap mobile time....so if you use minimal internet, it might be enough for when you cannot get the free stuff!!

Most Android phones can too (and function as a MINI router...Kinda like a MI-FI)!! Apple folks will need to jailbreak first!!
