Backing up a truck not as easy as it seems!

I hate backing in a truck stop. I've struggled a couple times getting into spots. Not once have I had anyone offer to give me help. I've only had negative remarks. So I shut my CB off so I don't get really angry and accelerate the situation.

i drove a straight truck today for the first time in a long time after driving tractor trailers 5 days a week.......when backing i couldnt figure out which way to turn the wheel

 

three 1/2 days!!!!!!!! shoot it took me at least two weeks to learn how to correctly pick my butt!!!!

 

That's because trailers are smaller!

It's easy, just practice. Like everything else.

 

Small movments up front are amplified at the rear just like going down the road. Watch a driver that is digging for something and tries holding the wheel steady but actually is making small movments but it look's like he's swirving all over the road. It doesn't take much. Plus it's a mind over matter thing. It's only as hard as you make it out to be. One thing that helped me starting out to not focus on it so hard. Focusing to much and you'll be all day trying to get it in there. When your beyond tired even without focusing can still tend to be a daunting task. It'll become natural with time also as you get used to the size of the truck.

 

one thing i always do is turn off the cb so as not to hear the peanut gallery!!!
