An OTR friend of mine had his cat (a Siamese) with him and he kept a kitty litter box in the passenger footwell. There was no smell. They got along. Mostly, he said, the cat hung out in the sleeper. He'd walk her on leash at truck stops and rest areas.
You'd have to ask your company if that's okay.
But . . . to answer your actual question (can a cat handle being in a truck 10 hours a day). If you're OTR it could be 24 hours a day--for weeks. It depends on the cat.Last edited: Oct 7, 2010
lupe Thanks this. -
I've seen lots of cats in trucks. Yes, they can handle the lifestyle. They only need enough room to walk around and stretch and are easy to care for VS dogs that need to go outside every few hours.

I had a cat on board once. He was sleeping on the dash and it started to rain. He had never seen the wipers before.
He landed on the bunk.
Came back and sat on the back of my seat and hissed each time they went up. He gradually settled down.lupe, ac120, Miles_Of_Truckin and 3 others Thank this. -

Yeah, really. I'm considering a cat too. They're pretty low maintenance compared to a dog and prob wouldn't care if they ever got out of the truck. And from what I hear, with a pet on board, you can idle in no idle areas. Is this true?
