I think you have to buy them at the "Big Time Company Truckers Store" for 250% markup! -
why all the razzin'? simple question-simple answer....
all's that's necessary....mho... -
-
Just simple explanation that if you can't shift the gears manually.... Then you have no business driving a truck!
Yes.. There are many old timer's who prefer auto's.... But they still know how to shift a manual when & if needed.... But if you can't do a manual, then you are a worthless weight placed upon this industry.blackw900 and Motownfire Thank this. -
Well, don't sugar coat it men.
I'm on the fence with the whole automatic thing. Probably because I haven't been around driving for years with gear shift in my hand.
It does remind me of the "If I need a dam# phone I'll Fn pull over and find one" bunch when cells started coming out.
or the "If you can't Fn read a map moron, you shouldn"t be Fn driving a truck" bunch when GPS came out.
Technology has changed and will continue to change everything we do.
My buddy who is getting a waiver to drive (Left his left leg and part of a hand in Afghanistan) is very much thankful that there are auto trucks out there. Me to.
Being a new grad, I'll go to a company the will hire me. If they drive auto's well at least I'm working. I did here a rumor that is as yet unconfirmed that US X is buying standard in the next fleet. We will see.
He may be the poster. His name is Smith............
MaxRustyChops41 and wtxiceman Thank this. -
And when I started driving I didn't know how to back a fricken trailer up... Did I search out a company who would just bobtail me across the country?
I've sweated, I've screamed, I've cussed, I've held other driver's up, I've hit ####.... But I can back a #### trailer!
So why can't people do something as simple as shift a gear? -
I never saw anywhere that he or she said they couldn't shift a truck. I would also think that if they just got there cdl that they had to test with a stick.
tnkrdrvr1979 Thanks this. -
I thought you were a skate boarder so you didn't have to back up?
-
Not so! I met a driver a couple weeks ago who was on day 7 of being a truck driver. Driving for US Xpress because this person was trained at a CDL school with nothing but automatics....
