Went to the schneider school in Fontana, and didn't pass the cdl , and the economy collapsed right afterwards and defaulted on the student loan. My question is, would this prevent me from getting hired if I go to a private school and get my cdl ?

first you absolutely NEED TO KNOW how your credit is. since you defaulted on a student loan and such. your credit may very well be toasted right now, and IF that were to be true, you would probably NOT qualify for another student loan....so check that out first....then get back to us.....

as far as being "prevented from being hired" i'd say no, BUT MANY companies DO RUN credit background checks on potential employee's......this could had an adverse effect on you, showing that you are not responsible.....

If you went through a company school and never got your CDL then why are you being charged? Every school has to be certified by the state they are in, so start raising a stink about it. Find others who have been charged yet never got their CDL. Look into getting into you states Rehab program.

You are the customer, you paid to be trained and never got trained well enough to pass your CDL road test. You do have rights! If Schneider has put a mark on your credit report, sue 'em!

this is what's probably in his contract

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial_driver%27s_license_training

he failed his test, they kicked him out, he defaulted on his loan...

reading the ENTIRE contract is what EVERYONE should do, but hardly ever do.
Schneider did this to him, CR England does it as well.....they lived up to their end of the contract, he didn't by NOT getting his CDL...

So educate me. Are you saying that student driver is the reason CDL mills exist? And you have all but justified schools stealing from their students. So what is next for you? Justifying the student signing on with a lease to own program that makes the employee make the payments on a truck they will never own? Why not expect the driver the pay the companies fuel tab while you are at it?

I am so glad you cleared this up for me. Seeing as how I have spent 12 years of my life as an instructor at 4 of these CDL mills. 4 Schools that ruined the credit record of the majority of their students and all 4 schools are out of business today, themselves leaving unpaid bills all over Tarrant and Parker County Texas. Do you suppose these owners suffered from an employer checking their credit? No. In fact the last one still owes 4 of us two weeks pay we will never see.

So let me hear you admit it. Companies have every right to steal from the hapless student who just wants a job, even when a school recruiter never allows the student to read the contract. If you have never been in the training industry, you have no idea what you are talking about. Schools have been sued. CR England is one that has.

Congratulations, you may need to seek a career in politics.

uh...yeah.the CDL Mills exist because of all the wannabes....no school will EVER guarantee a student a job.......you should know that. i do not advocate signing a lease to own deal.....

well then, you got 9 years over me....i've only been a driver instructor now for only 3 years......one school i worked at couldn't care if a student was an ex-con, drug addict, whatever, as long as they got the student loan, that school was very happy....and this owner will NEVER suffer...

my new school employer......we actually do not sign up ex-cons, addicts, etc. in fact, we DO NOT HAVE a government student loan program. either the unemployment office pays for job retraining, or the student gets his own loan.

companies DO HAVE THE RIGHT to steal....if one is dumb enough to go to a company sponsored training program, NOT read the entire contract, then fail, the company WILL FOLLOW the contract.....if a student is NOT allowed to read the contract, then the student should get up and walk out.

now the same thing can happen to YOU AS WELL.......
you buy a car, house, boat, don't pay the loan, they take it away, and ruin your credit......what's the difference.....between the banks and the schools....?? its all business......YOU NEED to read the fine print as well...

admit it.....you know jack shiot of what you speak.....especially of me.....and my background.

Well the CDL mills aren't there for the experienced drivers, so "yes" to that question. As for the justifying of schools stealing from students, I did not see that implied unless you are referring to a private message that was sent to you. As for the other two justifications, sounds about right to me!

i think what he is referring to is a school taking a students money (in effect stealing from them) and NOT finding them a job, OR kicking them out if the student fails his CDL road test, and that would be stealing LEGALLY as they had signed contracts, and NO guarantee's of employment or passing any CDL road/skills tests.. however, he (and i) are responding to a trucking company (Schneider) where a student went to them, paid money, failed his test, Schneider kicks him loose, he defaulted on his student loan......it's all contractual, but somehow, as a former instructor (him, not me) of 12 years, he doesn't know this happens....????? it ain't right.......its business....the student failed to live up to his contractual agreement, Schneider did not....... even CR England has done this as well.....

he was lucky to even have a job for those 12 years as an instructor. to me, if he felt THAT BAD ABOUT IT......why did HE CONTINUE to be an instructor for 12 years.....???? he should have bailed out real sooner...seems to me, he did ok for himself......got a paycheck, maybe benefits, home every day.....easy work schedule......

that's why i'm in it...... and because i really like the job.
