I start school at Kaskaskia next Monday really looking forward to it.
    A couple of quick questions.
    1. I am not interested in home time can I use that to increase pay or does it make it easier to find a job?
    2. I posted about an accident I had a month ago just got my mvr and its clean do I have to tell companies about the incident?
    3. I think night driving would be interesting to try is that hard to get into as a newbie?

    Thanks for looking.

    ok here goes
    1. you don't care about home time neither do the companies.....no extra pay just more miles so more money
    2. were you issued a ticket in the accident? I really can't give any kind of advice on this one...it could go either way
    3. Night driving......ah yeah you'll do plenty ...trucking isn't 9-5 driver is 70 hours a week 24 hours a day 365 days a year..there are no holiday's to speak of or anything resembling a "normal" schedule

Good luck have fun be safe

If you're running OTR you'll be running all hours both day and night. If you want local night driving it might be more difficult to find with no experience. You're supposed to fill out the application and on the application it will ask you if you had any accidents in the past three or five years... yes you have tell them through the application because if they find out and you didn't tell them they could fire you just like that. Just put it down in the application and then keep your mouth shut unless they question you about it. They are looking for honesty in the application.

:biggrin_2556: Hey you have start somewere, so your saying you never drove a car at night, theres really no diff in a big truck, you never pulled a camper , hence really no diff between that en a big truck, to not too tell a tructh on the app , big mistake there, tell everything as honset as you can, becuse on that back page , right above were you sign it, says we can and we will take actions agaisnt any false apps, the reason they want a honset answer, is your gonna be honset on your log book, and at the shippers -recs and if your not honset on your apps then it will snowball down too this, so be honset or might be taken by a taxie with those bubble gum lights lights a flashing and spend time in a motel with bars on the windows and too get share a room with joe with pants around his ankles and his drawers showing :biggrin_2559: and then you be over in corner doing this :biggrin_25522: and wondering how too get outa here, for then all woulda said and done ,if i woulda been honset on my app i wouldnt be here now Everett.:biggrin_25525:

As long as the accident wasn't your fault and you did not receive a ticket then you are good to go. If you were ticketed and it was your fault I would hold off on signing up for school. Schools will tell you "no problem" to get your $6000, so you need to talk to some of the more reputable companies to see what they say about your situation. If everything is good to go then jump in! This is a good time to learn to drive due to winter and also freight is going to really start to pickup! The downside is save your money because the day after Xmas freight comes to a halt until February! Good luck trucking is a hell of an adventure!

The accident was my fault I was at work and going to pull a car into the automotive bay; while I was it backing up I thought I had more room than I did and hit a parked car. There was no serious damage to either vehicle. There was an accident report but no ticket issued.

When they ask about your driving backround, just say one minor accident. They will find it anyway. Let them do the work of finding all the details, Don't tell them anymore then what will show up on your record.

And I just read as I typed this your last post. I had a thing like that, I backed into a pole, Damaged up my wifes car pretty good, But it never showed on my MVR, So you might be ok.

You need to be honest about everything upfront, but man that's a tough one. I would be tempted to brush it off. Spend a few bucks and do a background check on yourself and see if it turns up anywhere. Plus this isn't like a roadway accident. More of a private matter. Tough call! Good luck.

Yeah, most of the time, accidents on private property are dealt with by insurance companies.
