How old is that felony? If its more than 7-10 years old, you shouldn't have too many problems. Any newer than that, and well, you might try McDonalds.

Otherwise, try one of local refuse haulers, beer distributors, furniture companies, Bus companies, logging and construction companies.

Seriously, with all the unemployed experienced, Felony free drivers out there. One with a felony, is going to be at the bottom of the pile, very close to the circle file.

It depends on what the felony was, as said above, age of the felony and whether the company you are applying to goes to Canada much.

I'm not going to flame you for past mistakes as long as you don't make lame excuses, accept the responsibility for making those mistakes and try to get your life together. Coming here to ask is a start and you will have my support.

I would suggest trying for a logging or chipper company to start. You could try the larger companies, but I won't blow sunshine up your wazoo. Larger companies are turning people away for traffic infractions.

You might catch a break from a mom n pop outfit.

    Good luck to you.

I cant answer the question, but can ask one = why do convicted felons seemingly gravitate to this sport? WHY???????

I see someone post this convicted felon question at least every week. I'm sick of seeing the industry I love becoming a pool of people who did felon type wrongs, and as a last resort in their life want to jump into the trucking game.

Not defending serious violations of the law, but over the course of time, many laws that were misdemeanors a decade or two ago, are felonies now.

Fact: Anyone can be made into a criminal if the society allows unjust laws to be passed and enforced without passing muster with the Constitution.

my friend, i simply couldn't agree with you more.....it's always been a sticking point with me too. everyone seems to think trucking will accept such people with open arms and a very forgiving attitude......they should be so glad i ain't the one in the office deciding who gets hired and who don't, because left up to me, that "circular file" is my number one choice for such applicants.

Thanks for all the input!!! Actually I should have used a different name, as the felony isn't mine, but someone who I've known for 30 years who actually isn't a dirt bag exactly, but someone who made money and tons of it selling and making drugs... well most of us would call that a dirt bag, but shouldn't we consider individuals and what the circimstances were??? anyway, thanks for the feed back, and for the record....my criminal history is BLANK no record of any kind and perfect driving record also... don't even smoke or drink... I cann't imagine how people who have made mistakes or really screwed up must feel rejected all the time and maybe thats why there is such a problem with recitivism anyway that sounds like I'm on the side of crime and drugs and nothing could be further from the truth
I only found this site yesterday and so didn't know that the felony ? was asked once a week sorry GREAT site with lots of great advice!! Thanks again to all who share their expertise!!!
