Some states do not require you to pass a medical before you get your CDL. So the OP may be confused about having a CDL and driving a commercial vehicle. To me it would be unsafe and like the Dutchman say's he turn his radio off. I did that every time I hit a surface street. You've got to have all your senses especially in my business.

Being deaf would be great when dealing with the shipper/receiver a-holes

I am profoundly deaf and I have CI which helps me hear well at 25 DB so thats way below the minimum of 40 DB, if these deaf drivers want to drive, they need to wear hearing aids or CI at all time. I have seen some just wear NOTHING and I am not comfortable about that, they need to hear whats going on around the truck, like hearing the traffic noise, emergency siren, train at crossings, they just CANNOT rely on the fancy warning lights on the dash and gauges... if they still refuse to wear hearing devices, then they have no business having a CDL and driving a huge truck with a '53 trailer. I have a good friend who is profoundly deaf and has a CI and a hearing aid, he's been driving for 5 years with a CDL, he's pretty successful his bosses love him and nothing was impossible for him.. -

hello everyone? I'm deaf and how do i take the pretrip inspection I took the computer test and successfully past it. The DMV people don't know how it gets done please anyone ?

You will return to the DMV with a commercial vehicle and an inspector will watch you work your way around the rig as you do your pre-trip. Make sure everything is properly secured and mounted. Make sure the windshield is clean and free of pits and cracks. Make sure to check between the tandums for sleeping hobos etc.etc. It's a pretty long list make sure you study before you go. Good luck.
