Hi - SUPER newbie question.
If you're gonna be on the road for several weeks, do you drive your personal car to your employer and park it at some gigantic onsite lot, or do you need to find another way to get to and from work?

Most of the companies will arrange for a bus ride.

Almost all large OTR companies have you take the truck home for time off. If you live close enough to the terminal, say 100 miles or so you may want to take the truck their and drive back and forth. Then yes you would be parking in a large lot and leaving your personal vehicle their while your on the road. Other wise you will be expected to take the truck home with you and find a secure place to park it when their.NewJack Thanks this. -
Yeah, that's what I meant. So I take it these lots are perfectly safe and secure?

I have always found a job that is only a few miles from home. The bus thing, not my choice. You might have to leave your vehicle on there property for a month or so, hopefully no one will touch it.

I have driven for companies with gated yards and some you just park your car out in the open.
Best not to have anything worth stealing and drive an older vehicle.
An old beater car or pickup is the way to go. -
