Because in most states the politicians are either one of two types! Nuts or Flakes

In California, you have to 3rd piece of the political make up..
    Fruits, Nuts and Flakes...

Plus remember California politics.... humans can go to hell.... as long as some stupid little bug or twig lives on!

    Chompi,
In class today someone asked the insturctor about the 5 and 5 too..
He said he had heard of it before but could not find any thing in FMCSR green book.
Do you know that the chapter and verse is that allows teams to do the 5 and 5?
We could only find where you had to have 8 solid in the sleeper.

It used to be illegal but is kind of gray area right now. You can run that way but will have to shuffle your logs around. Wait until you get a little more familiar with logs before doing it. It's not really hard to do but there are little tricks here and there in order for it to make it work.

ok... well, I don't lie very well even face to face... so I don't think I want to lie (or shuffle) in writing in my log book...
That little shuffle in the logbook can turn into a really large check that might have to be writen (times 2)

It is very nice to have a Husband and Wife documenting there beginnings so to speak...in Trucking anyway. I am praying my wife actually starts school Jan 13th. I have been trying for two years to get her in the truck. It took be over a year just to get her to ride with me for two weaks and man it was great, she fell right into it. Anyway, I think it is great that you two are doing this. The money is in Teams, especially Husband and Wife teams. Lots of money to be made if you play your cards right.

As far as the 5 and 5, you will stay logged as driving for 10 but she drives 5 of your 10 and you will drive 5 of her 10,,make sense? I pesonally don't advacate breaking any rules but that is up to you not me. I teamed once before and my partner and I, at that time, ran 12 to 12, he had the day shift and I had the night shift.

Take as little as you both need. Clothes, food...etc, etc. You can get an actual fridge for the truck from TruckerFridge.com. Of course, anything you put in a company truck is up to the company. The company I drive for won't let me put an inverter bigger than 150w in the truck, LOL...funny stuff there. You will need at least 1500w for a microwave, if you get one. I am sure you have both read on here about the showers, you get one free one for every fueling. And, you two can use one shower per both of you.

I wish you both the best and look forward to reading your posts.

Money would be nice - but just being together (even if we aren't awake at the same time is the benny I'm looking for! Long story for another time :)

Yeah I don't think we will be 'fudging' the books - just our luck would be one of us would be logged in (but not behind the wheel) and something would happen - I have a feeling we would be in deep dodo then... not worth the risk!! So we will work our 'shifts' and go on from there :D

I'm not sure what Central will allow RE: inverter size in the 'company' trucks - so we will cross that bridge when we get to it. Figure though - charging laptop - phones - possibly cooking - and a cooler of some type - AND doing it with in company policy - can you say CHALLENGE - LOL!

Hello Klingon and Lady K :)

I have enjoyed reading your story and look forward to much more! I'm in a situation kinda similiar to yours. I have been on the truck with my boyfriend Chris for almost 2 years now but I start school Jan 24th so we can drive team.

Two people in a truck can be tight at times but it's definitely doable, especially when its a couple. We have quite a bit with us too. We share one suitcase and laundry bag. We have a fridge and microwave for food starage and "cooking" (haven't tried any of those little grill things, neither of us are cooking types lol). We also have a TV, two video game systems (and the plastic guitar for our guitar hero games), two laptops w/cases, a CD book with ~200 DVD's, a couple of books each, cell phones, lots of plugs/cprds, and tons more junk. We make it all work but we did have to get creative to do so.

His company allows up to 1500w inverters which runs all our electronic stuff fine.

They don't allow you to make permanent modifications to the truck but you can do ones that are easily removable. We built a little wooden shelf out of 2x4's and plywood that sits over our feet that we put our fridge on. It doesn't bolt to anything but it is wedged in where it wont move without some help. We have I bolts ran into it that we use for the bungees that hold the fridge in place and closed.

If you'd like, feel free to PM me and I can send you some pics of our trucks setup that might give you ideas and even my number if you want.

    Keep us updated!
