Lady K, you are very insparational! I just went with my husband(pain) to talk to his recutier and see his school and I was asked why i wasen't joining my husband right away, rebecca the recuter asked me why every time I came up with an 'excuse' and she told me: "with trucking what holds some back is the fear. Don't let the fear hold you back." she understood my husband's and I wanting to get him going and get him in with his company(covenant) and then once he can become a trainer, I would go thur the school and then he can be my trainer and we can drive team. Rebecca said that having my husband training me would be best too since many men will not take on a female trainee. Plus, there is money to be made being a female trainer too! (not in this for the money really just trying to find something that my husband and I can be together and live ok, just about anything is better than where we are now) She told us that was a great idea and we are set up for the life style. We do not have any major things holding us to the area we are in right now(MI which is slowly dieing or dead when it comes to trucking and we live north of 94:biggrin_25512: we don't have any kids, or a house, ect.) and that we should 'go for it and get out of here!'

My husband is very helpful and supportive about me doing this too and has not been pushy at all. letting me make the decision. He told me he just wants me to be with him. That he would feel it unfair he got to do this great adventure alone. I told him finally that I want to be with him too on this adventure and if I have to get my cdl to do it, so be it! One has to do what they have to do to get what they want out of life. Nothing is givin for free. It was very nice to have someone elses imput and look at me and ask why? why? why? and to make me see that if some women out there can do this there is no reason why I can't either and it doesen't matter that I know very little about it, but as long as I have the drive and determination to learn this new exciting life, I can do it! Lady K you are so optimistic and postive about this, I can't help but say to myself if Lady K and so many others on here can do this so can I! :biggrin_25519: Fear of change will not stop me from getting what I want with my husband! :yes2557:

WW: Welcome to the "following our men onto the road" group. lol I'm half-scared to death about backing up and parallel parking, but Lady K's posts tend to inspire me to try anyway. Shooting for the 14th to start school. Let me know if you have your own thread, 'k? Would love to follow your journey. :biggrin_25519:

Thank you Nana - you are so right - I need to relax - I get myself all tied up in knots and get flustered. I think I did better today though...

LOL - yeah one of the guys I'm in the truck with keeps reminding me I need to pet the kitty - not shoved the kitty - LOL - he tried it the first time with petting the lady, but that just didn't quite work for me - LOL!

From your mouth to God's ear!! Please let that 'hit' come tomorrow!! As for the backing - its only 100' and you just stear toward the side you see the most trailer tires :D its just remembering to not just look there, but also where you need to stop - LOL!!

GOOD idea!! I've also been repeating 'tap - - tap' and 'take it out - rev it up - put it in' LOL... I even say it out loud when driving - it seems to help :D

Good for you!! You are so right - you have to do what you have to do. Please don't think that I never had any doubts - I had so many doubts and fears I couldn't move at times... FAITH is what is getting me through this. When I look back on my life - I can see the hand that has guided events. I couldn't at the time, but it was and IS there. I have to do everything 'I' can do - the rest (if its meant to be) will happen. I have been hit upon the head and shoulders by the 'spiritual 2x4' many times - (his trying to get my attention). However during all these times, I have found that if I look and concentrate on the blessings, things don't look as bad. If I look at all the bad side of things - that is all I see... then I spiral down into that well and its REALLY hard to get out of it!! - Thank you - I needed to encourage you, so I could remember this myself - I feel better now :D

    Yes I can!! :biggrin_25525:

Well I'm not the perfect trucker yet - LOL - but I think I did have 'some' improvement, and that is what they are looking for. I have to say 'tap, tap' out loud, but hey, only the ones in the truck can hear me and they say it too - LOL! Tomorrow more skills (straight line back/alley dock/parellel park/right turn and stopping at the stop line) - the guy before me just does NOT listen to the instuctor - he is scary!! Going after him I almost look good... tomorrow we are working on light anticipation - that mean working/driving in heavier traffic... I will NEED to RELAX!!

I feel there is a bubble bath in my future :biggrin_25519:

A man walked into a bar & asked the bartender for a glass of water, the bartender pulled out a shotgun & fired it. T he man thinked the bartender & left a tip before leaving. Your starting a new journey in your life, & you'll be scared, nervious, happy & glad that your on your way. The question is did the shotgun blast cure the mans hiccups or the water. You must decide if this is the right path or do you look for another.

I have no experience to pass on in this field, but I do want to leave my thanks for all the tips and opinions in the thread.

I've been looking at taking up driving as my next career, and the threads like this give a lot to think about, as well as a much more positive look at it than some of the more vocal posts I've found.

Best wishes to all the H/W teams out there, hopefully it's everything you want it to be!

    Lady K Thanks this.
