Brief history. 1995-98 I drove CDL-A and then another opportunity came up and I settled down, getting away from the industry.
For the last two months I have been researching and contemplating returning to CDL-A driving.
On Thursday past, I was driving on NB IH-35 # MM 86 near Coutulla, TX in a 4 wheeler, traveling in the fast last passing a pickup truck in the slow lane. I did not see an aligator in the slow lane as we were cresting an over pass. The pickup truck driver abruptly changed lanes to occupy the space I was in to avoid the tire and off into the center divide I was knocked. I ended up doing donuts back up on the freeway, across the 2 lanes and rolled my car, a Chevy Aveo. The pickup truck driver fled the scene and was later arrested 25 miles up the freeway with the help of a great witness and Texas DPS. He was charged and is at fault according to the Trooper, but I have not seen the report yet.
My question, is how will trucking companies look at this? I have no speeding tickets or other accidents, suspensions, DUI/DWI's, revokations... SPOTLESS driving record.
Because I fully intend on going to a CDL school and returning to trucking as soon as the holidays pass, I want to make sure that I am not going to get screwed by this accident or at least get compensated from the other drivers insurance for the blemish.
I have been out of trucking for so long, I am not sure what issue this will be. What say you?
I crashed a 4 wheeler...

#### I really don't about that one....but Glad to hear that you didnt get hurt too bad
-
Not sure on it either, but ##### that looks like it hurt! Glad you didn't get too banged up!

If it was a non-preventable accident then you should be fine. If you were found at fault or ticketed, then now you have a problem. The trucking industry has gotten a lot tighter on their hiring standards due to the flood of people flocking to the industry. Good luck to you.
Wargames and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
It would probably depend on whether or not the accident goes on your record and like the above stated whether you're cited or not.
-
I like what Chompi post. And I don`t really see any problem with you getting a CDL at this point.
-
I am actually suprised at how well that little car held up, atleast it looks that way.

You should've turned the lights off, your battry's dead by now. Glad you didn't get hurt. When you apply do not try to hide this incident! It sounds like most co. would consider it a non-preventable so your good there, just make sure you keep ALL the paper work from the accident and explain it like you did here.

time to get a new Aveo.

You don't have to report this accident unless you are cited as it being your fault. If your not then you don't report it because it's not "your" accident.
