Oh yeah! Especially when it is -60* and windy. A nice hot shower then trying to get back to the truck without your hair freezing solid. LOL

Garden of Eden, Eden, ID has tubs. Johnson's Corner has them. I think the Sapp's Exit 11, I-29 in Iowa has them too. Trying to remember where else I've seen them.

But even though they have them, do you really want to soak your arse in somebody else's body grease? Because most of them I've seen, while they have been washed out, they haven't been scrubbed in a long time. Anybody who owns a tub knows you actually have to get in there and scrub with powder cleanser them once in a while to get that brownish grime off the porcelain. Most truck stop maintenance people think that's just too time consuming or too much like actual work, leave it for the next guy.

well, the nicest :biggrin_25521: shower I ever had was the Exxon truckstop, Ennis, Tx. Yeeha that was a nice place. 4 of the bathroom stalls also had showers, the doors didn't lock, the bugs (some very large) :biggrin_2554: had the run of the place, the water was at best luke warm, the floor was a couple of shades of mold :biggrin_2555:, you stood on a wood "pallet" in the shower, and I pretty sure something reached out of the drain and touched my foot :biggrin_2551:

Little America in Cheyenne has the Golf Course, I've never used the showers at either one in Wyo., but I've used the restrooms at the exit 66 location, very nice. That one has like 20 or 30 fuel pumps, the shop used to be 24 hrs, I think it's now only open 4am to midnight. Cheyenne, the shop is open 5am to midnight with someone on call, unless you have split rims on your trailer, then they send you away as no one is able to work on those.

Loves charges 9 dollars without a fuel purchase, most of the other majors charge 10.

Loves needs the fuel transaction to be over 50 gallons, most of the other majors say 50, go figure.

Most majors use the frequent fueler/rewards card to keep track of showers, TAs and maybe Petros allow cash purchase of a shower at the rewards kiosk, I'm not sure about the others, and have only watched such transactions while waiting in line.

Some of the others (small or non chain)will keep your fuel card or drivers license as security deposit. Others might charge a cash deposit even if you bought fuel and will return it when you give them the key and towels back.

Loves uses keyed locks, even where they took over Pilots and Js with touchpads, and they have the system of keeping your rewards card until you return the key, some have you bring the towels up to the desk, but most want them left in the shower.

TA and Petro provide 2 large towels and a washcloth and a terry mat at most places, as well as a large plastic seat, many of the Pilots and Js just have a tiled seat set against the wall . You can ask for more towels at places other than the TAs and Petros, they might give you more to use. I never need more towels at a TA or Petro.

Some places issue coupons in lieu of having a rewards card, these expire after a time that varies.

Do all truck stops provide towels? Should I just bring my own instead?

The newer service plazas on the OH turnpike have driver shower facilties, but I don't know about towels. Maybe someone else does. The truckstops with showers all have towels, I'd carry a washcloth and soap, but have only had a couple that shorted those items.

I have seen guys take a sink bath in the restrooms and use paper towels. That is about as close to a communal shower as you will get today.

Take your own towel... As for the major truck stops, you won't need it. But what was said up above, the travel plazas on the Ohio turnpike have driver showers. They are free but you have to provide your own towel & soaps. Plus you have to clean up after yourself.
