Forgot to check operation of CB "answer beep", annoying music, and ability to reach out and step all over everybody else so you can proudly announce "Pssst, I ain't got no panties on...." Probably the most important part of the pre-trip, right there...Geeze...

here is a very good video of a pretrip. you need to know exactly what your state will test for, as there are small minor things that are done in this video that are not done, like the steering wheel play is not on the PTI in tennessee when getting tested.

Not to be a bad influence, but most of that crap you learned in school you will never use again. Once you are on your own, THAT'S WHEN YOU WILL TRULY LEARN TO DRIVE. Remember to keep the rusty side down, rubber on the ground, pecker up, and powder dry, be cool on your stool, and all that good ##!$. If your screwing up to much DOT will let you know with little reminders they call FINES.

in all reality my pre trip is basically i check all the lights, check all the tires, always check the kingpin and 5th wheel release handle is locked, dot bumper, mud flaps and fuel level
after i hook up the air lines i turn the engine off and release the trailer brakes and listen for leaks, then i pull the trailer handbrake and listen for leaks
i check the fluids once a week

Check your smokes to make sure you don't run out before your next stop. Yes I do this. LOL

That is a good list.
Use it on EVERY "new" truck you get.
And for the first few hundred miles.
But to be realistic, once you get to know YOOUR truck, MOST of that stuff you can check "occaisionally".
Not saying to STOP checking, just that every day is a little "often" for them.
That list was written BY a certain "group" whose drivers slip-seat a LOT and don't have assigned trucks.
Then it was forced on us to do "daily".
