That was the point of my post. If I didn't say flat out it was a bad judgment call, then let me assure you: I know it was. I knew then, I know now. Aside from sharing a potentially amusing story, and satisfying a hint of nostalgia, I wanted to help show why Swift, and other companies that hire *anybody* have bad reputations. I got out of that on my own. Lots of people don't, and that's what the industry and the public see.

It's just a simple fact. Somebody has got to hire newbies and wannabes. I hear a lot of talk and advice telling wannabes that they shouldn't go with the mega-carriers, that they should go with smaller carriers. Funny thing is, none of the folks giving that advice tell who the wonderful smaller carriers are. You know, the ones that hire newbies and provide them with all the bennies that mega-carriers provide. Oh well....

I'm glad to see WS isn't mentioned as it's one of the few companies with no driver-trainer program...You'd think that would alarm people but I think it makes us more cautious if anything, not cockier...

I agree. Had a FedEx doubles pass me up on I80W today. Winds about 45-50 miles per hours from the South-Southwest. He was wiggling all over the place trying to stay up to that speed limit of 75. I mean they wouldn't have a 75 speed limit if it wasn't safe in all conditions would they?
