I heard some crap going on, but did not listen that much. Probably as soon as it started I turned it off or tuned out. I'm not surprised though.

In Ca., that's Hwy 46 and beyond for Ch 17. Just N. Of Bakersfield. The drivers on 19 aren't aware that we use 17.

when i lived in modesto from '69--'72 we talked on ch.19, of course
we had to be careful of "uncle charlie" catching us without a license. Back then we had to have a fcc license to talk on the cb. all my friends were outlaws, meaning we didn't have a license. -

It's unknown to me, (the reason). Been that way since at least '76, when I got into trucks.

Back in the days of 23 channel radios, channel 19 was the furthest frequency from channel 9 which was used for emergencys. This insured there was little chance for interference.
