    First, a little background.
I had been running a 33ft straight truck locally for 2 years with a class B but wanted to step up to the big time. I spoke to a KAG West fuel driver at the local Quik Trip and he pretty much sold me on the job and company. He told me you needed at least 2 years OTR experience before you can get a job as a fuel driver. I figured 2 years goes by pretty quick, so I went to truck driving school, got me a shiny new CDL with Hazmat, tanker and doubles/triples endorsements and headed out with one of the OTR training companies. Uh, yeah. Now I LOVE driving the rigs, but I pretty much knew by day 3 that OTR truck driving was NOT for me. You see, I'm a family man in my mid 30's with two children under 10. Well, my experience of doing OTR was horrible and I ended up quitting after 2 months.
    So...
Is there any possible way to get to run a fuel truck while doing local work? Are there ANY dedicated runs available to a guy in Arizona? I have a clean background, NO drugs/smoking/alcohol issues, ZERO driving points, never an at fault collision (or ANY collisions for that matter!) and I'm a pretty sharp guy when it comes to driving the rig! I'm willing to make runs from Phoenix to Flagstaff, Tucson, Chiriaco Summit (drop and hooks?) Cabazon etc.. I know, probably the jobs that most guys want.
So am I just out of luck? Went and spent a small fortune on schooling to no avail? I can take the hard truth, if you guys say I gotta run OTR to get anywhere in this industry just let me know. But if there is another way I need to find it!
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and thank you in advance for any advice, wisdom or thoughts concerning my situation! God bless =)

might be different in AZ, but I live in FL and was able to get a job with KAG with nothing but local driving. no OTR required.

Will not be easy. Go through the phone book or start driving around. Look for small fuel distributors and natural gas home delivery outfits, welding supply houses, etc. Put in apps wherever you can. Those who advertise looking for drivers will have hundreds of experienced drivers coming in so you need to start doing some cold-calling.
