There may be time limits but I would think the state is just not going to forget something like this. Before you invest any monies you'd be smart to check it all out. I also think if there's a record somewhere and a company finds out they are not going to touch you no matter how long it's been. Sorry and it's just my opinion.

If I were you I would get an attorney and have them look into those old charges. If the cases are still open you could go into a scale and when they run your license they could find some outstanding warrants. I don't know if warrants have a limited life, but if there are warrants you will be shut down and arrested on the spot. You will lose your job, put your carrier in a difficult spot and will more than likely find it difficult to ever work in this industry. It would be best to find out before taking this any further. You can't run forever. It is always better to confront things. After this long I am not sure they could even do anything with the statute of limitations. In any case, I would consult an attorney.

And do not trust what these schools tell you. They have been known to tell students "NO PROBLEM" until the money has been spent, then it becomes " SORRY NO ONE WILL HIRE YOU, BUT NOT OUR PROBLEM".:Wheelchair:

If you never went to court to answer the charges, there is a good possibility that you were found guilty "IN ABSENTIA", forfeited any bonds you may have posted, had additional judgments against you and warrants issued for your arrest. I'd get this cleared up sooner than later. Good luck!

Usually there is no statute of limitations on those offenses,

however mostly they are in-state warrants.

Meaning you won't have a problem, until you get stopped in the offending state.

    No attorney needed.

Just contact DMV and or the state police in those states, they will let you know !!!!

Not likely those charges-just disappeared !!!!

    Good Luck.

By the way, some states have websites where you can check for warrants-right from your computer,

    here is one example........

Contact the state or states that the offense's occurred in and check your record. Tell then you may have an outstanding charge you want to check on for verification. Here's a story that happened to me.. when CDL license's came into being I went to my local DMV to re-new as usual on my birthday. I had gotten an out of state ticket several years prior that I didn't pay. Before I could get my license I had to pay that fine plus interest plus reinstatement fee and have a letter of clearance from that state's DMV sent to me to show my DMV as proof I had cleared the old offense. *Maybe* somehow your conviction got lost in a shuffle..who knows. But before you make any moves you really need to check it out.

I forgot to mention, I don't see how you got any type license to start with if two DUI's were on your record. Since the inception of CDL's all states computer information is tied together where it used to not be. How you been getting a license since 1989 with two no shows for DUI convictions? I dont understand this, but at any rate good luck.

what i have been thinking here is that he did not answer to any of the charges, when he skipped town, is if his license has long since been either suspended or revoked..??? since he only has a regular license and not a CDL it may have gotten past any checks any other state DMV was checking at the time....

and if say, i would highly suspect he ain't about to have an easy time of getting it back..

anyone on the phone at the DMV can and will say anything, that person has nothing to loose.

best to go and get a copy of the DMV records as someone else has mentioned.

We are not talking about normal past DUI's that were satisfied. He got two DUI's he never appeared in court for or answered to in any fashion..according to him anyway. He stated he's been driving "local" but it obviously must be a vehicle that don't require a Class type license of any kind. If he actually did have two outstanding DUI's from 1989 I don't know a state in the US that would give him a license, let alone a Class license, without satisfying those charges. You can also get a license here in the state I live in with past DUI's.........but not with outstanding ones that have never been responded to. Even with a regular passenger vehicle (car) license I can't imagine how the state he is licensed in currently hasn't gotten a flag when they run his license for renewal and or any other purposes. Something just don't add up to me. Thanks.
