I may not have been clear with my post. All carriers are required by federal law to collect a 10 year work history. Carriers are required to check the last 3 years. Some may go back further, especially if something turns up on the first 3 that raises questions. I always go back further when I check references. It is up to each carrier to decide how far they will go back on a driver. These are the minimum requirements. I am sorry about any confusion with my previous post. One other thing. Most carriers and insurance companies only check your last 3 years mvr. Some may collect a longer period, but they will not usually count anything that is over 3 years old on your mvr. And exception may be a DUI or something that involves committing a criminal act while behind the wheel. Some carriers are also doing a criminal background check on drivers along with the other checks.
