Class a cdl but no experience
C R england wants me to come to salt lake city to take their refresher course. Should I do this and drive for them as a solo company driver after the training? Or should I fork out the money for a local iitr truck driving school for 4500 dollars because I have no experience and get a letter of intent to hire from swift or werner? Also, as a woman, is C R england a bad place to work?
Thanks-

A refresher course is for an experienced driver without recent driving. I don't think a refresher course for a person with zero experience is even in the picture for you. Good luck.

can't you go back to your former school and inquire as to how much a refresher course there will cost..??
the schools i have worked at, have either charged $1,500 or $1,000 for a refresher..
as fir CR England, i can only repeat what i hear and that is they try to get you to go team or lease your own truck, which i highly advise you stay away from... you can try swift and werner, but the same thing applies here as well, refresher training...

I had a nephew who went to Swift with no experience. They had their own school, he had to commit to them for a year I think. Though he left Swift after his time was up, he got his CDL A (XT). I went through a school and many companies back then (14 years ago) reimbursed you a percentage of your school cost. But do stay away from the lease programs. As for teams, to each his own. You will get more miles and for a woman it may be safer to have a partner, at least until your get a year or two under your belt. Personally I hate trying to sleep in a moving truck.
