Hi I am writting to get expert advice from expierenced truckers. My husband recently went thru the CR England driving school passed all test and has his CDL-Class A and is in the process of his stage 2 otr training with a trainer. He is getting pushed into Leasing a truck from them but with all the bad reports we have read online he is telling them no. He still needs to finish his 3 months otr and then he is talking about finding another company to work for since there is so much bad reviews about CR England. Even his current trainer is talking about quitting CR England. My ? is what are some good reputable companies to work for? We live in Northern California right off I-5 in a town that is a major truck stop. My husband has already been back and forth to the east coast driving many many times now so he dont mind designated routes, long haul, regional, team, or company driving & he has also drivin reefers. What he would like to find is a company that will give him some home time with his family & possibly allow his wife(ME) to go once in awhile on a trip. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!

Get down the road (I-5) to Swift...terminal just south side of Williams....you have probably seen it many times.

Living right there....up and down I-5 and the Western 11 could work just fine for you two!

And even closer is Intersate terminal....that one is only a shop and fuel stop for Interstate trucks....but they can be contacted in their Tacoma, WA main terminal.

Personally...Swift first then Interstate....in my opinion.

Thanks otherhalftw: I will pass on the info you gave me to my husband when he calls. He is currently in otr training. We are also wondering is Gordon or reddaway good companies? oh and by the way my husband is 51 and just getting into the career of trucking.

Gordon is a decent company...and they run the I-5 big time...I am not sure about your husbands experience level and the Gordon fit...last I heard Gordon isn't a training company but give them a call....actually get on over to any of the T/S in Corning and ask a Gordon driver directly!

Reddaway requires experience above just finishing with a trainer truck.

A big issue you will (might) have is the school cost from England...be careful...they are good about using the screw (driver) on dissatisfied drivers!

HMMMMM...wonder why he is upset with England? I assume you two didn't get any warning or other information from TTR (here) before signing on with England.

Word of warning!!!!! Stay as far away from Hendrickson Trucking in Sacramento!! As far as you can be!!!!!!!

    BTW...they call me OTTER!

there is a reason the back of their trucks say

    LEASE
    TRAIN
    DRIVE

    in that order...

Did I read your post correct, that they require 3 months of training?

Because having the back of their trucks say

    LEASE
    TRAIN
    STARVE

    is too honest?

May Trucking has a drop yard in Woodland. Gordon does hire rookies and they have a drop yard in Anderson making home time easier.

Beware of C.R. England, they are the quicksand of the trucking industry and they are trouble with a capital T. Tell your husband to watch his back! I was able to bailout before they trapped me into a lease......BEWARE they are the rotating door of the trucking industry.
