    Hello everyone,

My name is Jason and I've been reading this forum for the past month. Not sure where to begin but like most newbies, I'm looking for answers.

I've been self employed since high school. Played on the road with a handful of country western acts in the Texas, OK, LA region. I really liked being on the road, especially when I was on a tour bus and I want to keep staying on the road.

So I have a handful of questions, some random, some I already found the answer on here but the topics were from 07-08 so trying to gather up as much info as I need.

    Anyways,

I applied for USA Truck, made my first phone call this morning with the recruiter and have an account setup with Driver Solutions.

Assuming everything goes well in this first process, I could leave for training at c1 ft. worth either the 23rd, or 30th of this month!

Great! But one problem..... My wife gave me a Ativan(benzodiazepine) a few weeks ago for nausea. I know it won't show up in a urine sample so I should be good. But does USA Truck or Driver solutions at c1 ft. worth require a hair follicle test? If so, I guess I'm screwed for the next -69 days. But then again, does a standard hair follicle sample test for benzadiazepines?

Thanks in advance... p.s., I'm not a drug user, it was just a one time thing and probably one of the safest drivers on the road.

I just realized their closest terminal is in Ft. Worth. Do they work out of any terminals in Houston? Whats the farthest an average otr driver would drive to pick up their truck to go otr after their few days off at home?

I do not know if they test for that exactly, but if I were you I'd wait just incase because you don't need that biting you in the ###.

Honestly, my first choice was Schneider. From what they told me, they only take students who have already graduated a cdl. I thought they had a school, etc. I sent inquiries to 3 different schools on their driver training program and haven't heard anything. San jac college, Lonestar college both in Houston and Roadmaster truck driving school in San Antone. Not sure whats up with that.

I know thats what I'm most worried about. I still may want to join the military. Just looking at different options right now.

If you're looking at schools, you should also check out ATDS just north of Waco. Its a 4 week course with some really good instructors. I just finished there and its a pretty good school. They are PTDI certified which I know some companies look for and will only hire from. I do know 3 guys from my class that did end up going to schneider. Even a recruiter and an actual driver came out and answered some questions and showed us his truck. We also have a visit from US Xpress, Werner and Covenant. But unless your looking at actual companies that train im not sure on that.
