Does a newbie/wannabe have to provide a background check to apply to a school, or a company owned school? Or does the company/school do it independently??
    Thanks,

A background check or a 10 year employment history ? Actually, just pay the $$$ to the school, they could care less about your past. However, the trucking company is a different story.

If I want to apply to a company owned school, like Swift, or Schneider, should I have my MVR, DOT physical results, and a background check already done, or does the company do that automatically?
    Appreciate the feedback.

My guess is they're not going to accept anything that you brought in yourself.

a BCI, DMV, is required by my school that the student goes and gets, as these are state/gov'ment places, with "official seals" stamped onto them.

a DAC report (if the student say had been previously been a driver, and wanted to check his own report) may or MAY NOT be accepted by some trucking companies. this i know first hand, as i always have a copy of my DAC to show a potential employer, i usually get told, "we will get our own"....now why they don't accept a DAC report, is beyond me...in fact, they SHOULD accept it, and COMPARE the results on both copies...

a DOT health card may or MAY NOT be accepted by many trucking companies......and by the way, the school requires it BEFORE the student can go on the road...

My company did not accept any reports or investigations by other companies or schools. They did that all on their own. And believe they go deep. If it was private document you had to sign a release so they could get it. Don't sign it and you go somewhere else. They even started doing credit checks which I do not agree with. There's not too many young couples that do not have debts and maybe got behind a couple of times. That doesn't make them a bad driver.

You could have a complete medical check and the company would not take it. Again they did their own which in this case was much better. Schools will follow the law so you have to have what's required but a company may check deeper. So it all depends on the company you go to.

PA will not release a MVR to ANYONE but the person in the record for any reason. I had to apply for a copy of my mvr and fax it to the company I applied for.
