How can I get help with tuning up the ecm on my Cat 3126? It is in my personal 1997 FL70 and I just cant take the low performance anymore...

I asked at the local Cat dealer and they wont help due to my tranny not being rated for more torque. I said I woudl sign a waiver or whatever and they just quoted company policy...

Hello...Do what I did...Spread the word around the shop to the mechanics...not the boss or service writer...that you are willing to pay (?) whatever it's worth to you...to have one of them to do it for you on the side...say down the road or whatever...but whatever you do...if you turn it up...make dang sure you know and understand your pyro temps....

It's a mid size truck with a mid size truck engine. I would bet it's set at 220hp. There's a reason they won't turn it up and if you plan to keep the truck very long I would just leave it alone. Why do you want it turned up anyway? Are you hauling heavy loads? Just wondring.

It is my personal commuting truck. I use it for camping and towing toys etc... I have done a little work on it and since I dont plan on hauling heavy, and I will be the only driver, I dont see a problem with turning it up some and maybe getting better mileage too.

as someone else suggested, check with the mechanics, maybe even place an ad on Craig's List for a truck mechanic..??

too bad you did not know how to use a scanner, there are many out there that you can buy and do this at your own when ever you wanted to.

OTC is one brand and i think Fluke is another..??

I sent my ECM to Mr. Haney, I have a feeling the truck is going to get a good kick in the pants. :biggrin_25514:
