what are the chances of being hired by a company and letting me drive their trucks when you have a speeding offense? , do companys even do that anymore or do you need your own truck?
i got one exceeding the speed limit by 31km/h or more. i live in atlantic canada if that matters.

How long ago was the offense? Was it considered or written as "Reckless Driving"???? Not sure how things work in Canada, but here in the US, and with the CSA crap, if you got a reckless driving ticket, you might as well not even bother.
But why not call a few local companies and see what they say??? Worst is a NOThe Chameleon Thanks this. -
and no i don't think it was counted as reckless driving.. here is a picture of it idk if it was counted as reckless or not

Well, seeing you are still a minor, and I'm guess this is your 1st offense, you will prob be able to pay a set fee and get put onto a probation where as long as you do not recieve another ticket in a year, it will be wiped off your record. At least most states here will do that.
Just remember, be safe, and obey the speed limits, especially if you want to drive a truck in your future. Not only are you out there speeding around others, but also us truckers have to deal with your safety tooThe Chameleon Thanks this. -
also; in my driving record would it say the speed i was going? i was in a 50kmh zone doing 98kmh. i dont think most companies would like that. and hopefuly you are right about the probationary thing. if i get my license suspended once i have to wait another 2 years to get my full class 5.Last edited: Jun 13, 2011

In a lot of the states your record gets wiped after you turn 18.
31kph is around 20mph over. So it shouldn't qualify as a Wreckless Op which is 25mph.
If you have to go to court for it, your best bet would be to try and take a driving class or something that might reduce the ticket or something. Basically, the lower you can get it, the better.
And in the future, don't speed. -

Wow. How were you managing 100 clicks in a 50 zone? The only places as far as I know that have a 50 km/h limit are towns. Were you at least... on a highway going through a town? Just curiousity.

I would guess a lot of people have bad records from when they where kids. Something to think about is the longer you can go with out getting more tickets the less anyone is going to care about this ticket. Just try and be good from here on out.
If driving a big truck is something you really want to do maybe place a small picture of a semi truck you would really like to drive on your dash to remind you what your working towards.
Good luck to you. -
