If you sign up to be a trainer then be one.

You think you got the run around now, just wait.

 

Why do you need a trainer do that? Just for the job title? I'm with a very small company now, they have no trainers per se. I spent 3 days with two different guys getting trained on the type of trailers we have, and somewhat off road.
As soon my enhanced license get's here, "thankyou Michign for dragging your feet", I'll be taking one truck, while another driver takes another, to train me in what we do at the customer.
None of these guys are trainers, and I'll bet they don't get anything extra, so, does it really have to be a "trainer"?

 

Oh, alright. I was just offering a suggestion, may be if you talked to the safety guy? My company is only 12 trucks, so no doubt the two do things a bit differently.

 

i'll start off at one end, and that is, "no one cares about your personal life"..you are only a student driver, you have NO SAY in what takes place or happens at ANY trucking company. if you're told you will sit and wait, you will. if you are told they don't know they have to take you on the road, you wait. the trainers personal life is more important to you because you give them any grief, and you're out the door, "next victim please" is all they will say..

if the trainers pay IS AN ISSUE, then you will suffer as the trainer CAN AND WILL refuse to take you, because all he's got to say to the company is, "i ain't doing it no more"...they won't fire him, because he's STILL a driver there.

as a newbie/student, as Wargames basically said, just wait......

you are not someone anyone will worry about, if one starts playing the crying game....start walking, because they will not need you. it's the way it is in this industry, until you HAVE your time and experience.

now for that trainer to constantly say, "we are going to die".....what WERE YOU DOING WRONG...on the twisty 2 lane road...?? were you going over the double yellow lines...??? were you going over the white line on the right shoulder..??? you DID something wrong.......

see thing is, training someone can be tiring. too many people want to be driver-trainers for the money but really DO NOT CARE about you (or any newbie) and in many instances, will run you down to the point of disgust. the few that do train and do it well also get burnt out.

time after time, a trainer MUST continue to nit pick at the students, because pretty much all students make the same mistakes, and although menial to the student, it's multiplied by how many trainee's the trainer see's in a month..

all schools pretty much suck at teaching you what you need to know...

all students pretty much suck at LISTENING when in school and have nothing better to do than biotch about road time, when they can barely back up.

so now enter the company driver-trainer...he (or she) NEEDS to correct you in what YOU were SUPPOSED to learn while in school..i can tell you many students have a thick skull at times and because of that, a trainer will take it out on the next student. he shouldn't, but he will. the last 1,2, or 3 students that guy had that didn't know he had to take you..?? well those dummies could have caused him to say, "screw it, for what i get paid, and for what they short changed me on the last time, why should i do this anymore"..??

so even though in reality (your personal life has issues), it really isn't no one's concern you are getting pushed around, i mean after all, YOU went to those companies first, THEN they chose you......LATER....

too bad you're going through this, but just wait it out and you will be on the road....a word of caution.....DO NOT keep changing jobs....this will make YOU LOOK BAD, then what can you say for yourself then...????
