There is no such thing, with the exception of child support, of indentured servitude in the country. You are free to leave CRST at anytime, you just need to make arrangements to meet your financial obligation to them. If the other company is that much better or you are making that much more money I see no reason for you not to pay them for training you.

u need to make the arrangements with them, not us. why don't you give them a call and then let us know what options they gave you.

if they tell you that you are their slave for 8 months then I would contact the feds on that one.

A company I recently worked for had me sign a 1 year contract and they paid for my school. If I quit I would be responsible for paying it back.
They went out of business 3 months after I signed the contract and are demanding I pay the trucking school loan.
Should I be liable for this payment as they went out of business?

What does the contract say? It seems it would have been between you and the company. You do have a copy of this contract, correct.

That may be true, hopefully things went well for the OP. However the post just previous to mine was from earlier today. That was the post I had been responding to.

I owned a business and had 30 crews working for me
If anyone came to me looking for a job and told me they could start right away and didn’t want to give notice to their current boss I would toss their resume right in the trash as I never hired anyone who had that sort of work ethics

Bet you wouldn't in a situation like the present where the job market favors workers. When a prospective employee has the choice of several jobs, of which your company is just one, why would said prospective employee be concerned about you tossing aside their résumé? Basically, it is employers who are having to sell themselves to workers versus workers selling themselves to employers.

You might be right with that in todays market

Our clientele was mostly made up of multi million dollar homes and we had a very specific expectation and were paid for it so we didn’t want all the work. Just the good work and we didn’t need just a warm body to fill a position either

We got out up that business around 2008 and I have been called by our previous designers recently asking if we’d move back and reopen
I told them that I doubt I would have the same business today as I did when I started it for the simple fact no one cares or wants to do a good job
