I just talked to a driver here at wal-mart said just set the trailer brake and leave the tractor brakes off. So far so good.

Lol well so I thought. Lol I read the manual. No help. I did as it said didn't work. I think the company had it set that we can't overide it.

It's not a company setting. The OAT needs to be higher than 80 degrees or lower then 20 degrees fahrenheit or the truck will shut itself off every 5 minutes.

You might be able to have it turned off at another shop other than the England shops as long as you do it without their knowing. But, as one said in here, they may have the computer coded so without a password, that stuff can't be changed. I'd probly be able to tell ya otherwise but I havent tried It so i don't know.

As far as getting around it, your truck will only idle for extended periods if the outside temp is below 20 degrees and above 75 degrees. When the temp is below 20 or above 75, set yer tractor brakes. Turn on the cruise control if its not already on. After 3 minutes goes by, when you see the yellow check engine light and the red stop light start to flash, reach over and push the engine shutdown override switch and then set either the low idle or fast idle and you're done. By low idle, I mean by pushing the DECEL/SET button and this will raise the idle about 200 rpms from regular idle. The fast idle is achieved by pushing the ACCEL button which will raise the idle speed to 900. But keep in mind that if it cools off in the middle if the night and the outside temp goes below 75, the motor will eventually shut down.

If you need to idle with the temp above 20 and below 75, pretty much the only thing you can do really is set only the trailer brakes and you will get about 15 minutes of uninterrupted idling before it shuts down, sometimes more, but that's usually about it. You can get a half hour out of it by setting either of the two high idles and wedging something between the go pedal and the dash but it will still shut off.

If you take the truck out of gear the timer starts. Unless you want to keep putting the truck back into gear your stuck unless the truck has a systems like cummins ICON system.

If you are leasing that truck you should tell them to disable the idle shutoff and put a tripac in the truck or take the dang thing back.... You are paying for the fuel you should be allowed to burn it anyway you want..

I thought (as others like the op may have) you meant what you said, turn it on.
It IS correct. I drive one and I did read the manual.
Turning the cruise to on and hitting dec/set will raise RPM to 600 but will not keep the engine running. Pressing and holding acc/set for a few seconds raises it to 900 and it will idle all day unless the company did something to override it. If that is the case the stick on the pedal should handle it nicely.
