    Hello,
I'm trying to find out how I can keep the engine from shutting down. I have a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia.

It's easy if you own the truck, however if you don't own the truck there will probably be a password issue.

We have an "ENG SHDN OVRD" - Engine Shutdown Override switch on ours... you've got 30 seconds after the red engine shutdown lite comes on to hit it. Will run for 3 minutes I think. Its not to run very far, but just enough to get you to a safe place to park and shutdown.

You're real issue is why the ECM thinks you're killing the engine...

If your truck has a manual, read it. There are a few ways to over ride it:

    1) Press on the OVRD ENG SHDN switch

    2) Rev up the RPM's

    3) Turn on the cruise control to put the truck in smart idle mode.

And get the #### truck looked at before you do some serious damage to it.

When I'm. Parked at a truck stop where it is hot I would like the engine to stay on instead of shutting down after 5 minutes.

Are you meaning to say that when your time is up the engine shuts itself Dow? The company really does that? Or are you talking just a normal engine idle timer? What kind of motor?

Turn on the cruise control. It will raise the RPM's by 100 so the truck won't shut itself off.
