I guess I should modify my earlier post. When off the Interstate on the back roads, going thru any town, I do the posted speed limit or less. I don't want to meet Barney.

this is a very simple answer
    and it is NO
most CANT do the speed limit and those of us who can usualy do 2 to 5 mph over it...
any thing else I call BS....
this applys only to the big road.
being in the woods is a different story.

most of the time I drive the speed limit, tho occasionally will speed a bit. some truck I slip seat into I'll be speeding and not realize, lol. others, really have to push the rig to get it up to the speed limit, lol. nothing like a company who has all junk for equipment!
I dont trust the speedometers in our trucks, so if I set the cruise, I set it just below the posted speed limit, just in case it's wrong.

Back in the day if I was moving it was flat out.
These days I run at or just under the limit most times.
The ride is smoother, after a full day I'm not even tired.
I dont miss the need to be "up on the wheel" and have the CB blasting to see where the bears are.
The supertruckers can come on around anytime.
Age truely does give you a different perspective on things.
I think the new drivers should be goverened, they need time behind the wheel before being allowed to run wide open.
Funny how they look at me as some old man that must not have many miles or a fast truck.
Truth is I have more miles backing up than most of them have in a truck, and should I feel the need I could strip the paint off their 80 MPH trucks.

Well, according to the latest info I got on the Highway Funding bill, there is not only a proposal for mandatory EOBR's nationwide, but also the 65 mph cap is back in. That's ok... Thanks to the engine manufacturers, there is an easy work around that if mandated. My truck may get limited on paper, but if will still be able to go faster if needed. There is always a way to fool the system.

Since Im from Cali the state of the famous 55, that's were I run 10% of the time. Driven here most of my trucking career and I know the freeway's/interstate's well enough where to increase your speed and not. My average speed I run is between 55 and 60 and I never get bothered. If Im in a little hurry(which is rare), I might hit it about 65 or 70 with my eye's rotating like a radar and ear's on the C.B. .

Cali would be the only place I'm somewhat near the speed limit...

Most of the time out there I keep it in the 60 to 62 range..
