Do any drivers go the speed limit?

Just something I've noticed the past few days.

Our truck is governed at the foot peddle at 57, so if I'm a 55 zone, I just cruise at 57. Yet, even while going that whopping 2 miles over the speed limit I constantly get passed by every truck on the road.

So just curious if this is just me or does everyone ignore the speed limit?

I drive the speed limit, hard core 55.

It's doesn't matter how fast you go, there will always be someone who wants to get in front.

And that's a good thing because they will be keeping the state trooper's busy.

I heard somewhere that 57% of all inspections happen because a driver gets pulled over for speeding.

Yeah I'm a speeder myself. I like to think I'm just keeping with the flow of traffic. I'm really gonna hate being governed.

The funny thing is for me is that my truck has the qualcomm overspeed set at 70 and excessive overspeed set at 72. I think the only limit I have is the 2200 rpm. Having one of the few cat engines in a detroit / cummings fleet is that the mechanics don't have the computers to reset the limits. I just hope that I get to keep those limits when the new qual comm is installed. It makes me feel "special".

I usually go 56-57 in a 55 zone so, yes, I speed a bit. Just call me JJ.

My truck can go 63, but I usually set the cruise to 61 unless I really need to make those extra few miles during a shift.

It's hard to speed in a governed truck, unless I am going downhill with a tail wind.
And even then, I am less likely to go over the posted speed limit than I am to break Swift's speed rules.

I always drive 5 over the limit, when I'm able to. That gets me 50 or more miles further down the road by the end of the day.

Now if I paid for my fuel, or if my company had a fuel mileage bonus worth a ####, I'd reconsider.

Since my truck is neutered to 62, I cant cruise at the speed limit unless it's in one of them money-grubbing states that limit truck speed so ridiculously slow but while in those particular states like California and Oregon, I set the cruise at 60 or depending on the situation, I set it at 62.
