    Hello,

I am not a driver, however my son is out on on his first 3 week stint by himself. I was hoping to get some help here...thanks in advance.

He has an ICON idle control system in his truck (USA Trucking). However, his trainer apparently did not give proper instruction on its use.

Is there a link to an instruction manual out there? I am very proficient in using the internet, but I cannot find one.

If there is no link, can someone explain how to set the modes and turn it on/off? Especially the "Cab Comfort Mode"? He has been fighting this for a few days and I think he is just entering what he wants wrong. Is this system complicated to use?

USA trucking didn't provide a drivers manual that explained things like that?

    Hello,

I guess not. The strange thing about it is I cannot find an operators manual anywhere on the web....which is strange as I almost always find stuff like that.

I noticed that Cummins doesn't provide a "how too" instruction online like Detroid Diesel does about Optimized Idle.

Detroit Diesel and Cummins both licensed their stop/start idle systems from another company called Temp-A-Start so they might end up running in a similar fashion. Here's an instruction video for Optimized Idle. Maybe some of the information from here might help.

    Thanks much!

It (the control) looks similar to the ICON, it may help.

Have your son go to his company shop the mechanic will know as he has to deal with it when serviceing the truck. You could also ask any Swift driver in a Volvo he or she should be able to tell you. Hope it helps

Hey carddog if you have a truck dealer in your area or a cummins engine shop around just go in and tell them you need a manual for that system. Its possible they will have some thing, or a print out. I doubt they would charge you.

Hey carddog if you get any info on how to operate the icon system i sure would like to see it. I own a volvo and it has the icon system and when i bought the truck they were not sure how to use it. It was a used truck dealer and i have searched everywhere for an answer and have not had any luck with dealers and cummins can not tell you anything every time i stop at a cummins dealer they say they dont know because they have never had an issue with one.

with the hood closed and the brakes set flip the cruise control on,if it is already on flip it off and then on.the blue lightat the bottom of the dash to the right of the sterring wheel will start flashing.
quickly put the vehicle in gear and then back to nuetral, the light will stop flashing.go to the box mounted on the wall behind driver and hit the On/mode button.lets say it's summer so repeatedly hit the On/mode button till you see it say's"set point cool"or heat if it's winter.press the up or down button till you get to desired temp.{i set for 72}then push the enter button.
now hit the On/mode button till it says range it varies from 4-6-8 which means when the inside temp reach's what you set it for{my example 72}the engine will shutdown and will restart when the interior temp reach's say 76 if it is set for a range of 4.
also you can set it up to only restart when the voltage level get's low by doing everything above except you don't mess with the box in the sleeper at all.
once you set the temp.and range to what you prefer all you need do is hit the cruise control and put it in and out of gear and then just push the On/mode button and it will perform as programmed.hope this help's
