Okay so what's the best way to make the most money in the trucking industry? Is it flatbed, reefers, or van? Does it depend on your company and location?
If you had to not worry about hometime or personal needs other than the necessity, what would be the best way to save the most money?

How about a serious answer of it depends. You left out a lot of other freight groups too, like tanker, bulk, hazmat, heavy haul/permit loads and all that. There are too many variables to say which one absolutely pays the most though. Depends on what type of driver you are, and what your goal is too. Loading and unloading freight also weighs in as well as the different companies.

Good driving, lots of miles, and a company that treats you well. I feel if you put them all together you can make a good living what ever you haul.
Good Luck and Safe Miles,

In Canada the oilfields have lots of high paying jobs...

I think Flexiibility would be the best as in multiple trailers. See this time of year Dry freight picks up do to the holiday. In the spring Flatbed usually is good and reefer can be year round so if i were to Buy a truck and trailer it would be a couple trailers. I would run what freight was hot.

Get your own authority, buy your own truck, book your own freight.
Working for someone else will not get you rich.
Temp control freight usually pays the most for standard freight.
O/S freight will pay the most in Flatbead. -
Specialized hauling where specialized training is required. The more the training the more the pay. You'll never find just one type of hauling in the general masses where it pays the best of all. After that would be finding a good account as an O/O.

Sorry to the newbies. You have to understand though, that is the first question every single new driver asks on this forum. Unfortunately there is no real answer. Its like asking what kind of business to open that would make the most money. There are just too many variables. You have to just jump in, climb the ranks and see what best pans out for you. Its the same as the other most asked question. "How much money am I going to make?" Too many variables.
You can have two different drivers working for the same company with totally different results. One making killer miles, the other sitting a truck stop complaining. A lot of it is going to depend on your attitude, professionalism, how you interact with your DM, how you drive etc... Also a driver that stays out for longer periods of time will always make more money.
