They say there are always truck driving jobs for those who get laid off from longtime jobs. So how many newbies are second-career people who might have been professionals in their past life? And what's the biggest adjustment?

Your biggest adjustment? Well its not a job and not a career, its a lifestyle. Your biggest adjustment is going to be the lifestyle. Can you live in a closet for two months at a time? Go without showering? Constantly sleep all odd hours of the day? Handle extreme stress? Drive in extreme weather? Be away from home and sometimes not get paid for it? See your family a handful of times a year? Constantly sleep in strange places.

These are just the downsides of it but if you can overcome this stuff the rest is a breeze! Kind of!

That's about it in a nutshell lol.
I'll just add that if you can tough it out for a year or two you can find something local that's more like a regular job and still make a living wage.
I did,it took me just about a year, now I just need do do some more time to get a decent shift (working nights now) but I'm home daily and only working 5 nights a week 12 hours a night. (6:00pm-6:00am)
