Hello Everyone here on TTR. I am just about to start my CDL class, and I did test positive on a pre-employment drug test. About ten years ago. First let me tell you that I do not drugs. (The woman that I was dating slip something into my drink) yea I can see the eyes rolling :biggrin_25523:and please leave the comments out. My problem is that I have filled out a per-employment app and they did get in contact with me and said they DO NOT employ anyone who tested +. I don't want to throw away $$$$ knowing that I cannot get a driving job.

Well that's one company down! You have about 449,000 companies yet to try! I would suggest calling about 20-30 companies and talk to their recruiters and see what they have to say. Don't just call all the mega-carriers, try and mix in some small and medium size companies. Sometimes they are a little more forgiving. Testing positive is definitely going to be a bump in your road but you have some time on your side from when it happened so that may help you.

    Good luck!

Thanks chompi. The thing that bothers me is a lot of company's won't hire you without otr. I live in what the trucker's call as the 'vortex' of the northeast. Hey that's where I live so I'm good with it.:biggrin_25523: Also I went with a man I would consider my father more than my real father when I was 16,17 and 18 summer month (passenger seat if you know what I mean:biggrin_25521:) on my eighteen summer year he told me to get into the driver's seat and drive. I believe it was a early 70's, cabover ( still love them cab-over's) Didn't miss a single gear. I love the road. Not to the extent of otr!! but not day-cab either. Also I know it is NOT the greatest life/career/money maker ( if you a whiner:biggrin_2553:) but if you love it than you drive it:biggrin_25522:

If you get a bite you might even offer to pay for a hair test to show that you have not touched drugs for a very long time. It might work.

Jims I know what you mean. But I don't do them!!! Just s#### that because of someone else it might ruin my chances of driving.
