I recently got my CDL and I'm going to be applying to a few companies right after the holidays. I spoke to somebody at Schnider and they said after my 2 weeks training in Green Bay, Wis, and 3 weeks with a trainer on the road, that I will make .29 cents per mile. Are there companies that pay more for new drivers??? I was also thinking about Roehl. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You can use pay per mile as a guideline but don't base a job on what they pay per mile. You've got to look at how many miles will you get and how that company will benefit you. Look at all that company has to offer. There's a lot of new drivers that jump at the first job not even looking at the benefits the company has and then they're stuck. A job that pays around $600 to $800 a week sounds about average and one that pays $1000+ a week is rare.
