No automatic restriction in oregon... guess this is a pretty easy place to get licensed. Instructor was telling me what a pain is in washington(120 hour class required for class A)... if I were headed to the oil fields from washington, I would consider "moving" to get your license.

    Scott101 Thanks this.

So today about 830 am i got the call from the big boss to come in and do my paperwork. Its amazing how much paperwork is involved in getting a real job lol!Anyway i spent about a hour toiling away at that then i was sent to unifirst? to get fitted for fireproof clothing! Fun huh? Who knew this was a job where you might catch fire? So I start monday working 2am to 2pm with a few driving hours thrown in just to make it a really long day(at least i get paid for them right?). Everyone including the drillers are shutting down for the holiday weekend so mondays the day i start figuring out what the hell it is i signed on for.

After all that i went over to the apartment i picked out to see when i could move in,turns out i cant move in until tuesday. You have to get the power turned on before they let you move in which sucks cause now i have to pay for a hotel until monday this really is killing my budget!!Did you know they deregulated electricity in texas so now you have to choose between a thousand providers...pain in the ### if you ask me.I know some of you have told me i outta just live in a hotel but i have a good feeling about this job so im just gonna roll the dice (im from vegas remember?). I just took out a 6 month lease so if i decide to bail it wont be that bad.The eagle-ford shale is really kicking of though so i dont anticipate things being to bad.

So Thomas is still hiring so if youre looking for a job and your a worm(my new title lol) give them a call. Dont forget to say i referred you so i get some dough (jk)

Think ill go to the beach tomorrow im getting too pale.....

Vegas, I grew up the coast in La Porte, Tx. ...the area you chose is a great place for a single guy in the Spring and Summer months, Corpus and South Padre Island will be kickin' when it gets warmer.

Hey Vegas, is Thomas requiring you to transfer your license to TX? Also you mentioned they were hiring in other parts of Tx, do you know what towns or cities?

Vegas, same question from me. Do I need to transfer license to TX? Need Hazmat before I come, or wait till I get there? Heading your way in Jan. Need to be where it's warm. Snow here now and I just bought a camper.

The answer to that is yes i have 90 days to transfer my license to texas so its not a do before you get hired thing!

Theres an rv park with a dozen 5th wheels and room for more about 300 yards from the yard where ill be working out of. If youve got a camper or a 5th wheel it would be easy to get home after your shift. I wish i had one!The way i hear it all you wanna do after your shift is sleep as soon as possible. Im getting an apartment about 30 minutes from work hope i dont regret it if i do its only a 6 month lease.
