Definition of "Intermediate Stop"

Anyone have a simple definition for this? Some companies show this in their accessorial pay schedule. What's a fair (relative term) compensation for this, and typically how long a delay is normal for an Intermediate Stop?

Also, is a paid "layover day" in the reset, or is it a company order to wait for a load assignment?

I think it means a two-stop load.

i too believe its the "middle" stop of at least a 3 stopper load.

there is no "fair compensation"..........its whatever the trucking company pays you, and each company is different, for instance, i once worked for a company that did not pay for the first stop, but paid for the second and successive stops, but not the last stop...............confused yet.....??

1st stop FREE

2nd stop PAID

3rd stop PAID

last stop FREE

guess what, most times i had a 3 stopper load.

1st FREE

2nd PAID

3rd (last) FREEEEEEEEEEEE

so, i only got paid for one stinking stop................got it now......???

needless to say, i didn't last too long there, and neither did the trucking company.............

I'm not sure of the technicalities of this, but I would say if you can incorporate off-duty time around the layover to make 34 consecutive hours, you could get way with this being your reset. But given that these driveaway guys are supposed to log on-duty sitting in an airplane not getting paid, then you sitting in a truck, parked at the J, getting some token amount of money, might also have to log it as on duty.
