    I wouldn't trade going OTR through a winter, in the mountains, and so on (without a gps or phone), for the personal driving experience and self reliance I taught myself, specific and applicable to any other trucking job, that's just me.

    Depends what company you go with for OTR. Some are great and professional while others are just revolving doors and expect you to bunk up with a stranger for 4+ weeks. No thanks. Once you have your CDL, truck driving isn't rocket science. However, if you are a recent graduate with a CDL always go for the better companies..no harm in applying at least before turning to those outfits just wanting to fill seats. I'd rather go local before OTR and prefer to keep physically busy.
